  1. Did you try the white compound? These work good also ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Gray-Rubber-Polishing-Point-Cylinder-Dremel-427-Rotary-Dental-Jewelry-240-grit-/320854472747?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab46ab82b
  2. Very nice , is that a friction fit or is the sheath attached ? Kevin.
  3. I use a wheel and green compound to sharpen my awls and knives. I started with a felt dremel wheel and compound and it worked so well I bought a large machine with 8 inch wheels.
  4. That material is breaking down, you didn't do that. The only way to fix it is to replace it or cover it with a seat cover.
  5. You can buy threaded brass screws small as 1/8 but they will have a slotted head. Even a split rivet will require some pounding. I'm not aware of any other secure option but maybe someone else will chime in. If you use something like masking or duct tape on the anvil it will reduce marring of the pin.
  6. Tina; I found a sizing chart for burrs. Match up the outside diameter of the pin with the inside diameter of the burr to get the size you need.
  7. Those are likely meant for a #12 copper burr. Have a look at page 19. http://www.ohiotrave...html#/19/zoomed
  8. Here's a list ... http://www.manta.com...nishing--E806F/ All of these won't be tanneries but some are. You can also contact the Fur Harvesters in North Bay or Taxidermy shops to find out where the tanneries are.
  9. That was commercially done, the one I have came from natives.
  10. Yes it has the hair, more of a wall hanger than anything. They require a lot of breaking to make them supple.
  11. I haven't used it but I have one and they are a tough, durable hide.
  12. That looks good, did you tan that tail yourself?
  13. Are you trying to get the name centered on the length or width of the belt?
  14. It should be good within 3-4 hours, longer is always better.
  15. That should work, the smaller the strap the easier it will twist. Another option is to encase a small piece of light gauge steel between two pieces of straight cut leather and then twisting that like a twisted shackle. Just make sure the twist is outside the edge of the guitar.
  16. I would say you aren't allowing for the thickness of the ipad. To save what you already cut you can add a filler along the inside edge the thickness of the ipad and it should be close. Kevin.
  17. You can fix the twisted strap by using a short twisted strap at the guitar. Attach the guitar strap to the twisted strap.
  18. Can you open the clip and then rivet or remove the clip? How about a chicago screw? How about a smaller punch? http://www.mainelineleather.com/products/craftool-x-small-rivet-setter-8100-01
  19. I must be missing something, is it because the clip is curved? Looking at the picture I would think you could set the rivet from the broach side.
  20. I haven't used pliers but I have used a pop rivet tool. Can you post a picture of it? Kevin.
  21. Change your applicator. I use the foam brushes to apply dye and wool daubers to apply gum trag along the edges, the wax goes on the burnishing wheel. Just be careful you don't put too much on your applicator.
  22. Found one... http://www.rodenleather.com/
  23. It appears to me that the thread on the bottom example is not coming through the awl hole on the end but is getting trapped under the first stitch forcing it outward which is causing it to run off center.
  24. Any wood working shops in your area or a high school with a shop class? You could probably make several with a hole saw , drill out the hole to the larger arbor size then put them on the shaft. Make the grooves with a small wood rasp as the machine turns.
