I chose a burly piece of leather for the base. Resisted the main piece of leather and antiqued the design. I used Briar Brown for the W and the corner pieces. Leather balmed it all. I hope they like it.

Need A Pic Of A Tippmann Boss Bottom Stitch
benlilly1 replied to LeatherHead99's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have a Tippmann Aerostitch and it got damaged in shipping also but, just the mounting plate. They must have thrown it. Split it right in two pieces. I can't help you with your problem but I would guess the bottom stitching would look just like the top stitching. My Aerostitch is the same on top and bottom. -

Your photos must not have been attached. You can edit I think. So try again.

Cool stuff! I especially like the axe cover! -
Nice shape! I also like the raw edge. So where are you getting your Chromexcel? What are the pluses for using it?

You're going to need to use something to block(super shene) for your antique. I don't think leather balm will work for the block out.

Clever! I need that for my dog! Looks great!

Some Western Stuff

Nice stuff, Goodfella! -
I don't use super shene. It makes the seat look plastic. Leather is going to wear. If it's taken care of and leather balmed when needed it should be o.k.

Thanks everyone!! Most important to me is that I want it to be recognizable as leather. So I'll probably go light with accent color. I'll post a finished photo.

It looks like it's cut and beveled.

Looks great! A lot of work!

Thanks Bob, yes larger pieces of leather. Just like you've suggested, I finally found a few threads here on the subject. Also a smooth piece of walnut is suggested. I agree it's not going to be easy to keep it consistent. A plate's a good idea.

That's beautiful!!

Hunio, What type of leather are you using? All your leather looks great. Is it veg-tan or not? Thanks -
Hi Lavendara, You could start off with a few stamps and get a swivel knife and at least a couple bevelers. You'll use them a lot! I use my B701 most of the time. You can make lots of designs with a few veiners too. Good Luck!

Les No6, thanks for the video. I learned something. Engtrk, I bet it will tool. Just might look slightly different.

What are the best methods of burnishing a flat piece of leather? Moisture content? What to burnish with? To get that worn look.

Raised letter with raised corners and carved design. It's in a shadowbox type frame so you'll see dimension. Now it's dye time...what to use? Any suggestions? I cringe when I think of colors so it might get earth tones. Just not sure because when it's dyed, it's final!!
