  1. I was thinking of renting those DVDs. Are they good? ArtS
  2. Do any of you know what is used to make the type holster that I've included a picture of? Do they buy the metal clip on the inside? Do any of you know how to make one of those clips? It has to be flexible but still hold it's form. Thanks, Art
  3. They look great! Very clean and well made! ArtS
  4. Is there a "normal" number of cartridge loops to put in a western holster belt? I guess everyone has their own way of doing it but I thought there might be a standard for the movie type holsters (not SASS authentic style). I'm looking at buying some dummy cartridges and need to know how many I should get. Also, does anyone have a good supplier for dummy cartridges? Thanks, ArtS
  5. What is the cheapest way to go here? Those blue and red guns sure are expensive for just a plastic gun. ArtS
  6. I just measured mine and they're just short of a 1/4" in width. Works for me for pillows but folks all do it different. I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted. Wish it had been. Glad it was only a couple of bucks. ArtS
  7. I didn't modify them. As a matter of fact all I've cut with them since I bought them was that sample. It will be a good width for me on some of my items - not all though. It would be ok for chaps, trim on items such as pillows, gloves, vests and jackets. I still need to test and see how long I can cut them with these scissors and still look neat. ArtS
  8. Looks great Tom! I really like your workmanship and the colors. ArtS
  9. Being a huge Roy fan since I was a kid I especially like these. I also want to make myself a pair someday. Hoep that I can do half as well. Happy Trails ArtS

  11. That looks great. I really like that thread on the black. Did you hand stitch the rest? Great job. ArtS
  12. Thought I'd add a little of my history here. I was the first in my family to be born in America about a year after my parents came from Austria. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio but soon after we moved to Westlake, Ohio where I was raised. I father could build or fix anything. He was very good with his hands and artistic so I guess thats where I got it from. I grew up watching Roy Rogers and all the westerns on TV that I could. I used to beg for a horse but we didn't have a place for one nor could we afford one. A week after I graduated from high school I moved to Atlanta, GA and I've been here ever since. I went to work in the IT business on the old main frames an then into telecommunications. I am now a manager, for a large telco, over a team of network engineers that work on internet service for businesses. I met my wife here and we married 27 years ago. We have two sons that are 24 and 22. About 21 years ago I decided it was time to get that horse that I had always dreamed of. I realized that I knew nothing about taking care of a horse. The boys were little and I needed some extra cash so I got a part time job working at a large boarding stable. Worked there a couple of years and learned a lot about horses and riding (I can really muck out a stall fast). I started getting my own horses, showing, training and breeding them and now I just trail ride and we're down to just 2 horses. I used to do a lot of artwork on the side. That is what I loved but when I started riding that went to the side. Then I started wanting to do leather work about 4 or 5 years ago. I couldn't afford the tack and saddle that I wanted so I figured I'd learn and then make my own. I never thought I'd love it this much. I've been lucky to have been taught by a great saddle maker. I've also been lucky to find this forum and you great folks. I've learned a good bit online. I hope to be doing this until they lay me 6 feet under. I love having an artistic outlet that is also useful. The city has caught up to us in what used to be out in the sticks. When I retire I hope to move even further north of Atlanta, maybe even NC. Thanks yawl! Art
  13. Greg, I'd like to see pictures of your chains styles please. ArtS
  14. Beautiful work! I really like them. It gives me something to aspire to. ArtS
  15. What do you use to trim the excess leather? You get it really straight! ArtS
  16. I love my Artisan. Anytime that I had a question or needed help they were there and would stay on the phone with me until I was all set to go. Since I'm still learning I'm sure that I'll be calling them again. You're going to be REAL happy with it. ArtS
  17. Beautiful work Ted. I'll have to come up and see one in person some time. I'm down in Holly Springs. I first saw your work when your father told my father in law about your work and I checked out your site. Really great work. ArtS
  18. Folks, Has anyone ever tried using shredder scissors to cut fringe? I just got mine in the mail this morning from Harbor Freight. They are made to shred credit cards so I thought I'd give them a try. They were only $2.99. They make 5 cuts at once. I quickly tried them on some thin chrome leather and suede and they did alright. Attached is a picture. It worked well for short fringe. I'll see how it does if I try longer fringe. They also have a revolving 12", 2 tray, bin. It's on sale for $9.99 even though the web site still says $19.99. I have one of these already and they're great for rivets, nails, etc. Below are the links for the scissors and tray. 19. Looks cool! Drac, Do you make a living from this or just part time? Do you have a store in Georgia? I'm also in GA. I live up in Cherokee Co. and work in Atlanta. ArtS
  20. It's going to open up a whole new realm of possibilities and save you a bunch of time. I had never used a sewing machine when I got mine so it took me a while to get used to it. ArtS
  21. Great job! I'm impressed by someone every time I get on. ArtS
