  1. Very Nice Ray, quite a talent you have. I really like them all. Paul
  2. I wish everyone here a safe, Peaceful, and Merry Christmas. Please don't drink and drive, a funeral is not a good way to start the New Year.

  3. If you are needing template material, Target or Wally World sells flexabe chopping/cutting matts that make good templates. They are in the Kitchen section and run somewhere around $5 for 4 of them and are 12"x15". There are assorted colors in each package so you could use different colors for different sizes, etc. Paul
  4. Thanks Kenny, this does help. Not sure just how these translate to hand sewing sizes of thread. Appreciate the post, you really make some very nice mocs, I am in awe. Paul
  5. What I want to know is which type of thread you would recommend for sewing Mocs, and maybe why? I am sewing them by hand so also what size thread? Have researched these forums and no luck, Linen, Nylon, Polyester? Thanks in advance for all you help and advice. Paul
  6. Thank you, is very kind of you to share your time and skill. Paul
  7. Glad that you are going to try and do some more things Ray. Sure like the coffee pot and stove idea, people these days are just in too big a hurry to get where they are going,so they can go somewhere else. The time we spend with each other is the most important time we have. I have necessary things that get overlooked while "figuring something out" or fixing something I found. For me "Multitasking" is Not finishing many things!! LOL It has been so good to talk to you and I hope we can stay in touch, and like I said we need your experience and advice on here. Have a great day and keep the sharp side down. Please feel free to PM me anytime I would enjoy that. Paul
  8. Ray, so sorry to hear that you are having so many difficulties and that you are having to sell out. It always saddens me to see someone have to give up something they love so much. I hope that you are able to continue to do some projects and stay in leather in some way. But like you said time is always moving. You are in my prayers and please stay on the forum as much as possible we need your advice and experience on here. God Bless and keep coming back.
  9. Very cool, like the interior design and workmanship. Any 17 year old would be proud to carry this.
  10. Bobby, just got thru reading this entire article and making myself a cheatsheet of all the great suggestions and tips you have given. As has been said before these posts by you are simply explained so that everyone can make sense of and put to use. This has taken an immense amount time and patience to help others and I am so grateful for professionals like yourself who share with all of us. Thank you so very much. Paul
  11. Thanks for sharing both your talent and your time. Very handy, really appreciate it. Paul
  12. That's what I suspected, however I miss understood your post about the Banjo strap and plain wallet being done with British Tan (2 parts dye,, 1 part thinner) I thought you had dyed the strap instead of using antique, do you thin the antique? I love your work and appreciate all the help you give those trying to learn. Thanks again. Paul
  13. Beautiful work Chief, especially for a slow week, couldn't get that much done in a slow month, and not even in the same ball park. How did you get the black in tooling on the banjo strap? Did you use something besides the dye? Hope I'm not asking to many questions but the work is amazing. Paul
  14. The "Vimeo" site has over a hundred. I have downloaded a lot for ideas.
  15. Very Nice, you are off to a good start. Very clean and professional. There are about 900 videos of various leather craftsman and companys on VIMEO.
  16. I shop at SLC and it has been ok, like so many of you I shop there for the price, and for that price you get what you pay most of the time. I have Never had a perfect shopping experience anywhere! It only takes one person in shipping to be lazy or not doing there job to send the worng stuff out not a whole company. I had to let customers go in my previous business, 98% of the people want premium service or product for Dollar Store prices. But if I don't like somewhere I don't shop there, period. end of story. I am probably wrong here but it sure seemsl like to me if a customer has the time and effort to spend all the time to try and degrade a business in a public forum that maybe that customer wasn't worth keeping anyway. Just sayin. Paul In God we trust
  17. Thanks so much, it is really great the amount of time, effort and experience that is shared in these forums. It sometimes goes unthanked, but not unappreciated. Thanks again.
  18. TomG you might talk to Hidepounder he finishes his edges that way and I'd bet he has run into that once or twice. Paul
  19. Tried this yesterday, really works great. Thanks for sharing this.
  20. I had a lot of trouble getting my head knifes sharp until I bought a Video called "Use & Care of Hand Tools" by Andy Stasiak. It shows in detail how to sharpen ALL you leather knives and tools. It really helps me when I can actually see someone doing the chore. Don't remember where I bought it but you can google it and find it, The best $20 I ever spent. Just sayin..... Paul

    Barbours Thread

I have a brand new spool of Barbours #6, white, 918 yards, left twist, still in original box. I would like to trade this for the same thread in a right twist or even #5 in right twist. Surely some of you machine owners could use this and we could work out something, please. I bought this left twist by mistake and would really like to trade or sell it, can't afford to buy another spool and have this one sitting around. Please pm me for any questions or offers. Thanks Paul
  22. Thanks Bruce and Electrathon for the quick replies. I can see that now that you mention it, I always overlook the obvious looking for the "secret". Ha! Ha! I will use your method Bruce and see if I can learn something. The responses are much appreciated. Paul
