Breakfast butter- Yumm Yumm the kids love it You can flavor it however you like by using different jams. 1 1/2cup butter 1/4 cup apricot jam 1/4 cup honey Use softened butter "NOT" melted in the micro Mix ingredients slowly, you're more or less folding them together we use this to mix with The final result looks lumpy so don't that scare you Serve on croissant or biscuit or toasted bread, you choose, it's your breakfast The last step is ENJOY IT ! !

JustWakinUp replied to Don's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Oh that's super nice. I'm with the beav on this one too, the way you incorporated the conchos and the tooling looks great. -
Thanks for the intro. I think the picture is great because the soda can has my home team "HURRICANES" on it when they won the CUP. GO CANES !

Extremely confused on this. I'm looking for the steps of staining and finishing. Let me explain what I've found will turn a nice piece of leather into trash. Last nite I began to stain the flip flop project I've been working on for my girls. I mixed some fiebings dye (two drops from an eye dropper) with water. I wanted to layer the color on in layers to get the tint i wanted. ( Was mixing with water a bad idea?) I then took some Resolene and put a few lines on the leather so they didn't get so dark. I usually don't let anything I put on the leather stay on for more than a minute. (Is this wrong?) I then layered more of my water/stain mixture to get the color darker and darker. I noticed the resolene was super shiny & that's not what I wanted so, I took some rubbing alcohol and rubbed off the resolene.(Is this Ok to do with alcohol it made the leather darker even after dried) Rubbed in more color, let the piece dry a bit, put some british tan antique on it, let it sit for about 30 seconds then rubbed off. The color was really good and I was happy so after waiting about 2 minutes i rubbed the rest of the piece with resolene waited 30 seconds and then rubbed it to a shine. Wow did it look it great. My wife said it felt stiff so i thought i would then hit it with some Lexol. The lexol went on for about 20 seconds and rubbed it off but it took away the sheen so I thought I better put some more resolene on. This made the resolene lexol mixture almost turn into a gum on the top of the piece. I spent the next 10 minutes rubbing that gum off with alcohol and let the piece sit over nite. Woke up this morning and put some Leather Balm w/ Atom Wax on it and shined it up and it looks "OK" but not great. I have ordered some pecards and want to rub that on the piece to make it more water resistant . ( Is this a good idea ) So now that you've heard the nightmare of my staining could you please take the time and explain the proper technique, procedure & steps, for staining and finishing and the materials such as should i be rubbing on stain with a wool dauber or a t-shirt and rubbing off with a t-shirt etc. Also please explain where I went wrong even if everything I did was wrong. I guess I just don't know the differences between resolene, lexol, leather balm and all that. Are those finishes and if so do I use ONLY ONE or can I layer lexol over leather balm and then put pecards or should i only be using one of these products. Anyway I look forward to your suggestions. I'm sure this can help alot of us new guys.

Luke I paid $100 for this one. He has one or two left I believe but don't quote me on that. I also found a site that refurbs them as well as some older sewing machines. Leightons Equipment

I've been making my daughters some flip flops over the past day or two. Went to the local shoe shop to get some crepe and the gentleman there had this oooober cool leather cutter. I just had to have it, it might be over kill but wow does it make life so much easier to cut leather into shapes. Anyway here's my new landis. **Not sure where I should've put this here but it is what I've been up to lately

I happened across this information for a butchers apron but i'm sure you can modify this design and make it what you want. http://www.zianet.com/joblack/FCS/Apron/002.html

awesome flasks. The color is sooooo rich. You're getting great color in the deeper parts and great color on the higher parts. What is the technique, that looks really really good

Hey everyone, I'm wondering when it comes to sewing leather what the best method would be. I have a brothers sewing machine that I would like to run into the ground. I wanted to put it to the task to see what it could and couldn't sew. I've found some folks around here that have 120/20 needles so my question is this. What size thread is the "general" sewing thread? Is it 12? I want to get a few needles and thread and begin playing, Please pass along some suggestions

WHOA ! 11,000 sqf. If i was that busy I would be extremely happy. It sounds to me like you need to approach larger sources such as , Zack White, Tandy and others.

Hey there Steve, welcome aboard.

oh no doubt about it rose. I used an old T-Shirt to do the dirty work. I thinned it down a tad with some rubbing alcohol but there is an airbrush in my future. I think the hardest part was all the burnishing

As you all know I posted a few weeks back about a cuff bracelet. I took everyones responses and put them together and came up with this . Those are 1/2" halter buckles, British Tan stain, no antique and some leather balm with atom wax. What a fun project and now I have an arm ornament. Thanks again everyone.

I'm a huge advocate for using thunderbird as an email client. I then use my thunderbird to pull email down from gmail and leave the messages on the server. Not only do i have the archival benefits from gmails webmail but now I can archive at home as well. It's nice to know that I wont be losing any of my emails due to a crash, and if I do go through a huge HDD crash then my emails are still in tact on the gmail webmail server. It's a win win....Goodluck and if you need any technical assistance please don't hesitate to ask. **side note - have your ISP forward your mail to your new gmail account....or you can set that up yourself. Then you definitely have ZERO worries

Ok guys, My wife has brought another issue to the forefront of my research. She asked me today how I plan on softening the leather because of the carvings I did for my daughters seemed to feel stiff, rough and unforgiving. She seems to think that once I take the 6oz leather and place it on top of all this foam/ that the seat is going to be stiff/tough to sit on. So this leads me to my question, what do you seat makers do to condition your leather to make it a bit more supple, soft & forgiving?

Good looking stuff David I absolutely love the braiding. Those seat pans, where are you getting them?

I'm so new to this trade but damn all you guys inspire me. I think that thing looks wicked Freak. It seems you're having the same problem I am. When I stamp something I always see it on the backside in like a dark tint. I wonder if I'm suppose to be putting a backing on the leather before stamping. Great job freak
