  1. I haven't been well for a few months and LW>net is one of the things that's kept me going. After a few months of this, a member came back and vblocked me from sending messages I wasn't sending :) All over a disagreement on FB. It has helped me though when I realize I can have a mild disagreement with someone and be over it in a day where as some people can't do that in months, which is kinda sad.

Well I do as much as possible Jimbob but I have some leather groups on there I like to check for pics, etc. But like I said, I knew him here first but it's all been resolved now, for the moment :)

  2. Hi Red. You didn't do anything wrong, that would be a compliment in a way. And the holes are suppose to be so small the needle is difficult to pull through. I'm wondering if it's just the angle oh the light on the picture or can you see your holes too? Cheryl
  3. Red I think it looks great except you used too big of an awl or something because you can see your sewing holes and they should have closed. I just looked again and it's looks like maybe you used a machine? Either way do you drill out your holes first? Cause that removes the leather and it can't reclose. No matter what you did I think it's a lovely project and I love the tan with the 'sienna' color. I'm sure your wife loves it. Cheryl
  4. Yes dragon but they don't have backs on them sewn inside out. Sorry I thought you wanted ideas.
  5. I think the clue is in the names.....'kote.' I have heard of many people having problems with these products because the sit on the edge. A dye would work better. Cheryl
  6. There is a sub forum for masks but since this is a purse I don't see the relevance to masks. If you want to wet form it over a triangular wooden shape, just make sure you have 1/4th inch to nail it down. Do it at the edge of the 1/4th so you'll have room to cut off the nail holes after it dries. However it's beyond me how you will sew it inside out at that shape. If you wanted to tool a dragon purse it would be much easier and maybe nicer. We had a dragon challenge a while back in the 'contests' forums and I did a carved one by finding a picture online and leaving it up on my screen while I drew and carved it. This wasn't the best by any means and the picture isn't a good one but I think you'll get the idea. I hope someone else will come along and help you as far as molding it, and turning it inside out to sew. Cheryl
  7. Fiend I made 4 of them recently but they weren't the type to sew on, the end straps were sewn to 1 " with a 2" which became 1/2 and 1" after being sewn. The 2 " piece that was sewn to make an opening to run the 1/2" pieces through so it made a loop sewn onto the wider strap on each end to put around the rifle barrel and butt. The part that was sewn in-between the strap and suede was also 1" wide on the other end to the two looped pieces. One looped was free float because a buckle was sewn on one end of the the strap and that piece was longer than the other one with belt holes so it could be adjusted, thus needing the one inch left on it and a longer amount of it on the side opposite the loop. I sewed mine 2 & 1/2 inches so three shouldn't be a problem. I just scanned as much as I could of my pattern to upload and I hope you aren't as confused as I am, LOL. If I can explain this better, just ask.
  8. Beautiful Strap. Cheryl
  9. Cappy that's adorable. Really cool.
  10. Dwight if you use a conditioner on it, it will straighten out the lace and may moisten it enough to keep it from breaking. Cheryl
  11. Also did you edge the pigskin too? I would have edged the veg tanned on it's front, and also the pigskin on it's front that will round both edges. Cheryl
  12. A practice piece that turned into a beautiful freestyle piece of jewelry. Good job! Cheryl
  13. LOL I watch Kevin's Value Channel at Springfield Leather and I've heard him describe leather in probably 200 ways but never by bull or heifer. Actually after 3 years on here I've never heard it. I DO have a friend like yours though although she doesn't try and act like she knows everything about leather, just everything else, LOLOL. I agree with the OP about the 'one leg shorter' or something else to tease him but don't expect any change. You can prove one thing to these people but they'll still know everything about everything else
  14. Another advantage of the Boss, although I don't have one, is it's portability. A lot of people take them to shows and rodeos because they don't require electricity. I know people that have them and love them and people that hate them. They have a learning curve like anything else and some people don't want to put the time into learning the Boss. Cheryl
  15. Chief one this piece I actually like the dark color. I think your tooling looks crisp and clean on it. Beautiful Strap. Cheryl
  16. If I have to do something custom for someone I usually hit the internet, find a picture I like, and then free draw it on the item. Simply because it's hard to get it to fit the way you want it to when you print it. When I do things for my booth I use my own designs usually. I'm not an artist but it works for me. Also I have a book of belt designs since it's so hard to find something to fit to those. Cheryl
  17. Oh you came to the right thread so maybe Johanna can help you Deryk. I'm not sure it can be changed. Cheryl
  18. You're doing good Anthony. Now jump in with both feet and make you something and try some dyes or paints. All of it takes practice so the sooner you begin the sooner you'll be able to do it. I really like your ace. Cheryl
