  1. I don't think so TwinOaks - there are not a lot of people that do speak High German around here although I THINK that she might have mentioned somebody doing something for her about it - not sure though. and you are right - some of us "born in the USA" don't talk so good. >giggle<
  2. the puse is great - buttttt I think that you need a few more tulip bulbs out there in those flower beds - they look a little "skimpy" NOT - wow - they are a riot of color
  3. ***snerk*** soda out the nose HURTS Ray
  4. Ray he is talking about a "wench belt" you know the ones.... the wide belt that goes high under the breasts, or maybe you were looking at what was "displayed" by the belt? anyway Flyboy look in the halloween costume patterns for pirate outfits - they usually include one http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4952.ht...es&page=all here is one.....
  5. whis I could go -- we have a fiber arts demo going on that same weekend and I think that they will "miss" the "person in charge" if I don't show up...... Maybe I can scrounge pennies and get to the show in Indy......
  6. Welcome Jens I too play in the Medieval World - only I do the "softer arts" (fabric and fiber) and your english is very understandable. I know that you will find all sorts of things to keep you busy. Suze
  7. the one thing that I can see with 'clam vs horse' for a person like me with little to no room in the house because of all the OTHER crafts that are in here as well and being a "hobbiest" leather worker (small stuff - only for me) is that it takes up LESS ROOM and if I were to get one it would be a clam because of that factor. and that fold up one is COOL
  8. I would go with Troy's method myself - it works for paint and sticks for me anyway - but yes GLOVES are an important part of the process
  9. it does look more like a bible cover.....pretty though - I really like the style of cross (I liked it when you showed us the one on "scrap" leather) I don't know if you can do this or not, or even want to try, but could you put two wedding rings in the mix somewhere? or is it too late for something like that? (EvilSuze wants you to hang them off of the cross and put a little bride and groom swinging on them - good for you I shut her back up in her box.....)
  10. you can also get makeup applicator sponges fairly cheap - look at places like Odd Lots don't know if they would work for this - but I use them for a lot of painting projects. Just not on my face >giggle< (I'm not a "girly girl" don't need warpaint)
  11. well my answer really is quite simple and one word Johanna Yep - the Leather Lady herself that and she has ALL the cool toys to play with so I don't have to spend a young fortune on tools......
  12. "twisted - sick and demented"? but that's ok - cause I am too and I will go you one farther -- I hear some songs and sub SPIKE JONES lyrics........ My old flame anyone ---- >Peter Lorrie impression< I saw this eye so I removed the other eye - this eye that kept winking and blinking at other men -/- so I poured the can of gasoline and stuck a match tooooo my......old......flame
  13. I like Harry Potter and Psycho the Musical the best after Star Wars..... I'm warped -- >bright smile< but in a good way.
  14. not my song but one that the "Wenchs a Wailing" sing at our local Rennisance Festival the rest of it is Fa - a loong way to the 'john" so - I'll have anouther beer la - no thanks I'll have a beer tee - no thanks I'll have a beer Which brings us back to do - the suff that buys my beer (why no. I haven't heard it much - grin) and since I have to carry a tune in a bucket - the cats are all hiding now.......of course they also hide when I sing "star wars" by Moosebutter (moosebutter.com - go listen it is a riot)
  15. thanks for that info - I am not a "real leatherworker" (yet) mostly fiber and stuff myself I asked because I didn't know - now I do know something that I didn't yesterday - so the day is not a total waste. again thanks for the reply
  16. Would you make a cinch out of "velvet fabric" today? probably not - it is expensive and not the "right fit" for the job the era I am talking about (pre 1600) cotton was a RARE thing and priced acordingly. (think high end silk) I use mundane as a term for "everyday" item.
  17. This nice man sent me a Tri-Bolt for a stool (I sent him a book so I think we are "even") but he also sent a couple of keyfobs and butterfly hair "doodles" I suppose I have to figure out something to do with them now...... Johanna - when are we going to TANDY? You know I can't find stuff in Cinci. (all the streets go somewhere OTHER than where I want to go...) THANKS RAY (Oh poop- now I got a warped version of Do -ra- me running through my head ---- Do the stuff that buys my beer Ray the guy who pours my beer, Thanks Ray Me the one who drinks my beer ad nausam)
  18. hemp - flax - or wool were the more common fibers found pre 1600 (I play history - this is what **I** know and I may be wrong) cotten was a "luxury" fiber back then - so not likely to have been used for something so mundane as horse fittings.
  19. and now for something compleatly different -- what about going a different route? http://www.eleatherworks.com/product.php?p...=678&page=1 these are a lacing dee would they be strong enough to hold the sax? http://www.eleatherworks.com/product.php?p...=846&page=1 or something like this with a strap of sorts not a string through it? does it HAVE to look like what you had? Or is it just that's what you have and going with as a pattern?
  20. is there a way you could make the belt with both ends "unfinished" no buckle or holes and then it could be given to her as the surprise and you get it back maybe with one of her belts to "finish" off for her so that it fits correctly? Only thought I got
