    Hi From Az

    Welcome aboard. David
  2. Looks very nice, clean and simple. Like the way the brand and cross came out. Thanks for posting it. David
  3. Welcome to the forum. One thing that helped me on some things like sewing or lacing was to get a book on it from Tandy and then get a kit from them like a knife sheath or a phone holster etc.. They have the needles and lace or thread in the kit and the holes are punched for you. Read the book and practice on these kits and when you screw up just pull the lace out figure out what you have done wrong and start over. There are also some good you tube videos out there as well the things listed in the other posts. Good luck David
  4. Any oil soaked rags can do that if enough of the fumes are concentrated and the temp gets hot enough. I would worry more about your paint thinners and lacquers but you could look on a msds and find out the combusting temp for linseed oil to be sure. David
  5. Very nice job, nice design and color. I like everything about it. Great job. David

  8. Welcome to the forum. David
  9. I have also heard of putting a few drops of listerine in the water you used to case the leather. I have never tried that. I do use a couple of drops of dish washing soap in it. David You are not using the same plastic bag are you? If so trash it and get a clean one.
  10. You can use deglazer to strip off the satin sheen. I am not sure what the base is in the satin sheen if you know you might be able to use thinner or acetone to strip it. In the future if you are doing the whole piece black use vinegroon to color it black and then use bag kote or something like that. I stay away from the Eco flow stuff except for a few of the pro stain water based dyes. Good luck David
  11. Led lights would be for task lighting but they do put out a lot more light than you would think. I would go to grainger or some other commercial supply company and see what would be best for a 1000 ft shop. halogen or xenon would be okay because you could go with fewer lights for overall light and led for task lighting.Led is cost is higher but they are supposed to last for a long time. When I remodeled my moms kitchen I went with led under cabinet lights and it turned out very good. David
  12. Very nice, thanks for posting them. The brown with black cross is very sharp. Knives are very good also. David
  13. Very nice. Is that a natural color or dyed? Either way it is very good. David

A lot of people put a few drops of dish washing soap in the water. I have a spray bottle I use that stays on the bench that has a few drops of soap in it. If I am tooling I will get the leather wet and then store it overnight in a plastic bag. Before I work on it I take it out and make sure it is not too wet. If stamping I will spray it let it set for a few minutes then start, if it starts to dry out i spray a little more on it. People say that the soap in the water helps the tools and knife slide easier. Mineral content in water can stain leather but I think it would have to be pretty extreme. David
  15. Welcome to the forum. Merry Christmas David
