  1. After looking at this: http://www.engineershandbook.com/Tables/steelprop.htm%C2'> I would guess cold rolled is harder and stronger than hot rolled. But then again I'm not an engineer.
  2. Search youtube for "Al Bane" or "Cobra Class 4". Al Bane has a couple of outstanding videos about the Class 4. Cobra Steve also has a video on set up and adjustment.
  3. I had this bookmark saved, and they popped up on the main page: http://www.theclip.com/store/home.php
  4. Besides the "bag stiffener" Tandy now has a product called TerraFlex. Its a lot more expensive than the other product. It kind of felt like the bottom layer of vinyl flooring. Both may be stiffer than you are looking for but they are an option.
  5. What strap width? Oops, saw it in the title after I posted.
  6. The G27 will fit in a holster molded from a G19, maybe a little loose, but not vice versa. Besides the bevel to the slide of the G26/27 the bevel of the polymer frame is different on the smaller models. On the 26/27 the frame is beveled immediately in front of the trigger guard and the bevel on the 19 is about 3/8" forward of the trigger guard and has a steeper profile. Also, since the 26/27 has no rail the dust cover area is rounder than on the 19.
  7. Will the GoldStar dies set the Pull The Dot snaps? I'm not sure if you have to file a little flat spot on the one die or not.
  8. You can get the materials at http://www.smooth-on.com/ There is also a guy on another forum making mold guns using a vacuum former. Since I have a vacuum former I may try to do some. He has a couple of videos on youtube: and He sells kits which will mold around 4 guns at: http://redfeathergear.com/shop/I am not affiliated with him but it looks relatively easy, providing you can vacuum form the shell.
  9. I have a piece of HDPE (high density polyethylene) that I bought on ebay a few years ago. It is a cutting board material. My piece is approx 2' x 5' x 1/2" thick. One brand name is "King Starboard" and can be found at some boat dealers. It is available in a multitude of colors, thicknesses, and sheet sizes. Interstateplastics.com will cut any size you want and has a pricing calculator on the website. A piece 30" x 60" x 1/2" is around $75.00 + shipping. A piece 5' x 10' x 1/2" is $300.00 but shipping would probably double that. Google your local area for plastics suppliers and you may get lucky. I also have a so called "self healing" mat and my round knife slices right thru it, no healing going on there.
  10. Google is my best friend. A quick search for "clipboard parts" led me here: http://www.smallboxhardware.com/index.lasso%C2'> Lucky for me they have some binder rings and other things I can use.
  11. The XDS is made in two barrel lengths, 3.3" and 4.0". You can probably make a holster for the 3.3" with the longer mold gun but it may be more difficult making a 4" holster with a 3.3" mold.
  12. Mine are haphazardly thrown into a couple of plastic storage boxes or scattered around the house. I have been looking for a used blueprint file cabinet to try to organize them a little better. The cabinets are 3 or 4 feet wide and usually contain 5 flat drawers about 2" tall. The sections are stackable. Problem is that so far all of the used ones I have found have been out of my price range. The affordable ones are either sold first or too far away.
  13. I own a couple of the gloves sold by Rapala that I use for filleting fish. I have thought about using them while cutting leather but haven't tried them yet. If I can find one tomorrow I will try it out and see if it marks the leather.
  14. You will probably be looking for a fractional horsepower belt. Measure the inner width of the pulleys near the outer edge. A 3L belt will measure 3/8" wide and a 4L will measure 1/2". The label on the belt will have a "0" after the length so a belt labeled "3L320" tells you it is 3/8" wide and 32" long at the outer edge. To measure the belt length set the adjustable pulley in the middle of its range and measure the circumference around the two pulleys. This should get you close. Now you just have to decide if you want to buy extra belts and return the one's that don't fit or buy them one at a time and make multiple trips to the hardware store.
  15. Roger, it is not just you. I use Firefox with a 22" flat monitor set at 1024 x 768. This setting lets the forum screen fill the monitor. Some pics are still too large and I have to scroll over to choose "next". I tried changing to a larger resolution which let the pictures fit but the forum screen shrunk and I could not read the text as well. Ctrl -/+ worked so I may use that or just continue to scroll as needed.
  16. Moderator, feel free to lock this thread. I took a road trip to Alabama last Saturday and picked up this machine before my deposit money order had been delivered. The machine is as nice as described and the extras Ben included really topped off the deal. Ben is an outstanding young man and I wish him well in his new career in the aerospace industry.
  17. www.knifekits.com shows a 4" 686 in stock. I get stuff from them in 2 days from Georgia to Ohio. You can call and ask but they told me if the website takes the order the item is in stock.
  18. Give it time. You don't need rust you need iron. I've made up two batches of vinegaroon so far. The first batch I degreased 6 or 8 pads of 0000 steel wool using simple green and water. I rinsed them out, squeezed out the excess water then put them in a one gallon plastic pickle jar with a loose lid with the vinegar. It sat outside on the deck for at least 4 weeks in October/early November. The steel wool completely dissolved. I added a couple more degreased pads and let it sit for a couple more weeks. I strained it through a screen and it works great. The second batch was done the same way except it sat on the floor in the corner of the kitchen at room temperature. Its been brewing for probably 6 weeks and I just added some additional pads of steel wool. After dying the leather it does leave a little funky smell but it seems to go away with time as it airs out.
  19. Do they still sell the 2' x 4' diffuser grids for flourescent lights? Seems to me they are half inch grids and are plastic.
  20. The Blackhawk 1911 model also has a rail.
  21. I have found a source for 3/4" leather washers with a 1/4" hole that I can use here: http://www.twinleather.com/ They are only a dime a piece but I will need to order 450 of them to come up with a minimum order. They do have other sizes and shapes available if I can figure out something else I can use.
  22. If its not too late to add. Tandy sells two types of bevelers. The "keen edge" costs a few dollars more, is a little harder to sharpen, but is much easier to use, at least for me. They have videos how to sharpen both kinds. I also found the wood slicker they sell works better than the plastic circle. Its also easier on the hands. I haven't tried the other plastic slicker/folder they sell.
