  1. I always dye and finish the backsided of belts. Like Tramps I use Tan-Kote then burnish down the fuzzies like on this tool belt made of 14 ounce leather. Otherwise I'll stitch a liner on and finish both sides.
  2. I personally use a diamond chisel, with my motor nerve condition it's easier for me. I prepunch all my stitch holes after glueing and beveling my edges. If I'm using a welt it's all glued together, edges sanded, beveled, stitch groove grooved then I'll use the diamond chisel to make the stitch holes. I don't go all the way through and finish the holes with a hand held diamond chisel lining it up with the backside before punching all the way through.
  3. Hey Cisco, that's some nice lookin' leather ya got there.
  4. Looks pretty cool, like the carvin'. Only thing I can add aside from what the others said is I'd move that snap up a little. It looks a bit too close to the bottom for me.
  5. I'm using an oval punch set I ordered from Tandy. It's a 19" by 25" cutting mat I found at a craft store. Finished product. From my YouTube channel, some stitchin' followed by the finished product. I've since improved both video and sound.
  6. Check out my new YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos updates weekly. Comment, like and subscribe.

  7. I'm with the others. Light coat of Neatsfoot, I let mine dry for a couple of days then topcoat.
  8. Had a fellow ask me if I've ever made an appendix inside the waistband holster with an offset belt loop and mouth reinforcement before. I told him that I hadn't but that don't mean that I can't. He already has a belt that I made for him and he likes my work so he sent me a check. I made a construction paper mock up, he approved it so I started cuttin' leather. Paper mock up; Finished holster;
  9. Very nice. Only thing I can think of is a matching tooled ranger belt. Come spring you'll be ready for any BBQ.
  10. Updated with two new videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA
  11. I've been lookin' for a reasonably priced Colt 1873 SAA dummy gun, can you help me with that?
  12. I have a thread on a Ranger style belt I made for a client. He liked it so much he sent me pics of him wearing it with a couple of holsters I made for him. I might just have to make a belt like it for myself. Center hole, bullseye!
  13. Just had a client send me a gift. It's an all metal Smith and Wesson poster. Fits perfect on the wall over my work bench.
  14. Thanks and he does. He works part time at a gun shop and he's been showing it off. It's from an American Indian pictograph set I got from Tandy.
  15. A little, very little Neatsfoot Oil. Give it a day or so to dry. Then Tan Kote applied with a dauber, then the excess wiped away with a paper towel, allowed to dry for a day then a second coat applied and wiped away. Let it dry a bit then buff with a soft cloth. I think it looks purty.
  16. Just finished these three guys. Gonna give them the weekend for the final topcoat to dry, then off they go. Next up's a strong side, appendix carry, inside the waistband holster for a S&W J frame snubby.
  17. I've been working on my YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA Come on down and have a look, comment, like and subscribe.

I watched your holster You Tube. Great info. Thanks!

  18. Pretty nice. I recently finished one somewhat like it. The client wanted a basic black concealment holster with black stitches.
  19. Let's try this again. My new YouTube channel.

  20. I've been workin' on my YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA. Stop by, take a look, tell me what ya think, like and subscribe if you wanna.

  21. Just finished and buffed. The client wanted just a plain black holster with black stitching. However, I did find a hunk of "featured" leather to give it a little bit of style.
  22. I started my own YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA It's not intended to be a "how to" series but I'll have the camera rolling while I'm workin' on something. I'm still learning how to edit and splice. I started with my old beat up laptop's webcam. The pictures not the best and the sound doesn't work. My wife has graciously given me permission to use her shiny new laptop. I used it to video our cat and it came out rather well. I intend to get myself a proper video camera someday soon.
  23. Don't know if this'll help any but this just went out for $175.
