  1. I thought I felt a disturbance in the farce, er force. I've started a YouTube Channel (they'll let anybody in) on leatherworking, holster and belt making. I've made snubby holsters for snubby J and L frame Smith and Wesson revolvers. Some hand stitching and a video on sharp pointy stuff. I intend to have weekly updates but ya never know what life has in store. It's called "Chooglin' with Snubby" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos
  2. I guess I should have said shrouded ejector rod rather than under lug. The 19-4 doesn't have a full barrel under lug but it does have a shrouded ejector rod like this 4" m66. The K frame Blue Gun does not have a shrouded ejector rod. Like a m10 or m64.
  3. The 19-4's a K frame. A K frame blue gun'd work, just make sure to leave a little extra room for the 19's heavier under lug. Since a full flap holster generally has molded in retention that shouldn't be a problem. You'll have to fudge the 2 extra inches. http://www.bluegunstore.com/SandWKFRAME4.aspx
  4. I've got a degenerative peripheral motor nerve condition that causes weakness mainly in my right hand and wrist but also affects my left hand. I've found a technique that works for me when hand stitching holsters, belts and other stuff. I've got a video on leather stitching on my YouTube Channel showing how I go about it.
  5. It's called a thumb break and the orientation is correct. All around, it's a pretty good design. Pulls the grip in good and tight, aiding in concealment. Nice straight stitch line with consistent edge spacing. Pretty good edge work too. I prefer to cover more of the trigger guard but that's a personal design preference, some holster designs don't cover the trigger at all.
  6. Thanks, hope ya get something out of the video besides 33 minutes and 42 seconds older. If you're interested, I've got a 3 video series on making a fold over holster. Check my YouTube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos
  7. I always dye and finish the backsided of belts. Like Tramps I use Tan-Kote then burnish down the fuzzies like on this tool belt made of 14 ounce leather. Otherwise I'll stitch a liner on and finish both sides.
  8. I personally use a diamond chisel, with my motor nerve condition it's easier for me. I prepunch all my stitch holes after glueing and beveling my edges. If I'm using a welt it's all glued together, edges sanded, beveled, stitch groove grooved then I'll use the diamond chisel to make the stitch holes. I don't go all the way through and finish the holes with a hand held diamond chisel lining it up with the backside before punching all the way through.
  9. Hey Cisco, that's some nice lookin' leather ya got there.
  10. Looks pretty cool, like the carvin'. Only thing I can add aside from what the others said is I'd move that snap up a little. It looks a bit too close to the bottom for me.
  11. I'm using an oval punch set I ordered from Tandy. It's a 19" by 25" cutting mat I found at a craft store. Finished product. From my YouTube channel, some stitchin' followed by the finished product. I've since improved both video and sound.
  12. Check out my new YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos updates weekly. Comment, like and subscribe.

  13. I'm with the others. Light coat of Neatsfoot, I let mine dry for a couple of days then topcoat.
  14. Had a fellow ask me if I've ever made an appendix inside the waistband holster with an offset belt loop and mouth reinforcement before. I told him that I hadn't but that don't mean that I can't. He already has a belt that I made for him and he likes my work so he sent me a check. I made a construction paper mock up, he approved it so I started cuttin' leather. Paper mock up; Finished holster;
  15. Very nice. Only thing I can think of is a matching tooled ranger belt. Come spring you'll be ready for any BBQ.
  16. Updated with two new videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA
  17. I've been lookin' for a reasonably priced Colt 1873 SAA dummy gun, can you help me with that?
  18. I have a thread on a Ranger style belt I made for a client. He liked it so much he sent me pics of him wearing it with a couple of holsters I made for him. I might just have to make a belt like it for myself. Center hole, bullseye!
  19. Just had a client send me a gift. It's an all metal Smith and Wesson poster. Fits perfect on the wall over my work bench.
  20. Thanks and he does. He works part time at a gun shop and he's been showing it off. It's from an American Indian pictograph set I got from Tandy.
  21. A little, very little Neatsfoot Oil. Give it a day or so to dry. Then Tan Kote applied with a dauber, then the excess wiped away with a paper towel, allowed to dry for a day then a second coat applied and wiped away. Let it dry a bit then buff with a soft cloth. I think it looks purty.
