  1. I didn't see anything for top coating or finishing. I use Gum Tragacanth for burnishing my edges and Neatsfoot Oil and Tan-Kote for finishing.
  2. I like it. Good idea for a portable table top stitchin' pony. The clamps can be useful for other things as well.
  3. This is some of the sharp, pointy stuff I use. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JGAB9wft3wc Stitching stuff. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7e7nlXMFAVg I've got more stuff on my YouTube Channel. https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA
  4. My wife and I both used to work in factories together. I know that all I gotta do is show her something once and off she goes. I was getting kinda backed up on orders and she wanted to help. I showed her and off she went. It was really something to watch her hands go. Kinda like watching a leather stitching video of me but at double speed. Next time I think I'll get it on video and post it on my YouTube channel. My wife's Italian and I'm an American Indian. A loud emotional Italian and a quiet stoic Injun, we're quite the pair.
  5. That's a nice one. I've been meaning to do more lacing but I seem to end up stitching everything.
  6. I used a magnetic clasp on this cell phone case. Works pretty good.
  7. Took me about 6 to 8 hours to hand stitch this belt. It's 2 layers of 9-10 ounce. My wife hand stitched this ranger belt in about half that time. It's 7-8 ounce with a 4-5 ounce liner. Guess who does the belt stitching now.
  8. I use an American Indian Pictograph of a Bear Paw. It's small, unobtrusive and marks it as one of mine. I actually get enough work by word of mouth to keep me comfortably busy.

  13. Redbone, It's dyed with Fiebings Professional Oil Dye in Saddle Tan. I have a video on an AIWB holster. The color's different but the finishing procedure's the same. If you interested, I've got more leather working videos plus some general silliness on my YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos I'm about to start a few projects, so stay tuned.
  14. Check out my pocket holster video series,

  15. Had a request for a J frame snubby holster with a coupla bullet loops. This is what I came up with. And because I have yet to meet somebody with square legs, I mold a curve into my pocket holsters.
  16. I use the punch a coupla holes and connect them with a chisel method. I make sure my punch and chisels are as sharp as I can manage to get them. After punching and chiseling, I'll tidy up the cuts with a very sharp, stropped knife, sand it, then bevel, dye and burnish. Works for me.
  17. I use 7 to 8 ounce for mine. 5 to 6 seems too light and 9 to 10 too heavy.

  19. "What is this that stands before me?" Looks great. My advice, take a break when your fingers start gettin' tired, let 'em rest then right back to it. Works for me when I've got lotsa stitchin' to do.
  20. Depends on the end use. For a full size gun I'll generally use 2 layers of 9 ounce. On this belt I used 2 layers of 7 ounce. It's 1 1/4" wide and is used as a dress belt that'll also hold up a compact size gun for ccw. For a S&W J frame snubby, I've found that 2 layers of 5 ounce or 1 layer of 9 ounce is plenty. My personal belt's 2 layers of 9 ounce. But honestly, I feel it's a bit much to hold up just a J frame snubby. I hand stitch everything.
