  1. With a strap across the hammer on a single action revolver, the chances are that it'd be pretty much impossible to have a negligent discharge. Exposed trigger holsters go way back. The most popular being the "Threepersons" design. I would've cut the front down a little lower to get a better fit on the retention strap. The stamping does seem to go a bit wonky around the concho area. Can't really tell that much from the pictures. Is that a Tandy holster kit? That'd explain the big round stitch holes.
  2. When I make pocket holsters, they're rough side out. Helps to keep them in the pocket during the draw. This fellow wanted a coupla bullet loops on his.
  3. Thanks, didya get those cuff cases done? BTW, the fellow I made the pouch for picked it up today. He really liked it. In fact, he put it on and admired it in a mirror.
  4. Keep working at it. You'll get there. On the left's my first attempt. On the right's after lotsa practice.
  5. I don't remember where I got this, probably a flea market or a yard sale or something. I've been using it for years to flatten my stitches. It's German made and as a bonus it has a bottle opener and cork screw.
  6. The holsters, belts, knife sheaths and ammo carriers are fun to make but it's nice to do something a bit different now and then. This picture makes it look like the flap flares out. It doesn't, just looks that way. I made a wooden block from a tracing of the phone for molding the leather I'm planning on making something similar for one of my cameras. Video series https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQtTNBOy6Ky_wFZb3Bccf60Wp6Rq-3r6d
  7. I hand stitch everything. I don't own nor do I desire to own a machine. Hand stitching a belt's not particularly difficult, just tedious. I'll put something on the tv, get a beer, sit back and get to stitching. It's not always done in one sitting either. I'll set a goal, stitch for a while then take a break.
  8. I don't often mold leather but it just so happens that I'm working on a molded leather pouch. The video series so far. Still more work to do. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQtTNBOy6Ky_wFZb3Bccf60Wp6Rq-3r6d
  9. Thanks, just takes lotsa patience and practice.
  10. I made this'n for a fellow to use as a working belt. It's 2 1/2" wide and made of a single layer of 14 ounce leather.
  11. Thanks guys, My next project's gonna be a molded cell phone belt pouch.
  12. Same here. I used to do custom wood work. Along with a bandsaw, I use a stationary belt and disc sander. I've got a sanding drum chucked up in my drill press for getting into those tight inside curves. I've got a project coming up where I'll need to make a wooden blank for a cellphone holder.
  13. Coupla things. I wouldn't trust that stitch line on the belt loop. Lotsa stress there. Maybe make it integral with a reinforcement. Also, I don't trust just glue to hold leather together. It's there just to keep the leather in position while you work on it. I'd run the stitch line back up along the outer edge. This is an inside the waistband holster but it kinda shows what I'm blathering about.
  14. I like shiny stuff. My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her I want more chrome for my truck.
  15. That's pretty much the way I do it. 'Cept I do a final top coat with a coat or two of Tan Kote then buff that out.
  16. Very nice. What do you use as a top coat?
