  2. After I sharpened and stropped it, it works great. Just gotta keep the strop handy.
  3. It's pretty good for a first attempt, nice edge. I agree about grooving the inside of the sheath for the belt loop. I personally prefer to keep my stitches closer to the edge, usually about an eighth of an inch. I don't always groove my stitch lines, depends on the look I want and the application. This one's grooved: I'll mark my stitch line with dividers, then punch the stitch holes, if I'm gonna groove them, I'll do that before punching.
  4. Nicely done and finished. Like those tiger stripes. Now I can see how the shape can cut with a bandsaw and the holes drilled in a drill press but how was that depression milled?
  5. Very nice. I probably would've just hung it from a frog but your design's much nicer. I like that two tone dye job.
  6. I like it. I usta sculpt and airbrush. Haven't used my airbrush since I started messin' with leather. I may just havta try it for doin' some dye work. I like that effect, it'd look good on a holster.
  7. 8-9 ounce'd be fine for a big ol' Bowie. There's a fellow that collects big Bowie knives. He's left handed and he comes to me for his sheaths. I use 8-9 ounce with a welted edge. Plenty of support. Latest knife and sheath: I've been buggin' him to let me dress it up a bit next time but he likes 'em plain.
  8. I think it's right nice lookin'. Looks like you'd clear leather quickly. I can relate to having a limited amount of manual dexterity. I have a degenerative peripheral nerve condition and I'm lucky to have a wife that can sign stuff for me as well.
  9. My recommendation is to read, study up on the subject and watch some YouTube videos. Personally, I think there's no real "one way" to do leatherwork. I have a YouTube Channel and if you would like to see how I do it, click the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/playlists
  10. I haven't posted much lately. Mostly been playing outside. Here's a suede lined leather holster for a Glock 19, natural tan. The pattern: Finished product: Video build series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQtTNBOy6Ky_EayMAhGDCHEZ0PIlcNc_u
  11. Very nice. Good clean construction and design and it's not overly molded. Looks "just right." Like JLSleather, I also like the look of white on black. Did that on my own personal snubby holster:
  12. Since I do a fair amount of pancake style holsters, I decided to go ahead and get myself a slot punch. This may be the last tool I order from Tandy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeKJhIMICVQ
  13. I've got a YouTube Channel where I post video series on the leather stuff I make. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOM3hbruUKHov9kquIxXKlA/videos Just click on "playlists" for my build series. Everything I make is hand stitched and often I start with pattern making. This is just how I do it and not how it's done. I recommend that you check other leatherworker's videos. Maybe you'll find a technique or process that you like better.
  14. Thanks Eddie. Stay tuned, I have a black basketweave thumb break holster for a 3" S&W L frame coming up.
  15. Just finished, Knife sheath on the back. Fits a NAA .22 Mini and a cute little knife. Video build series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQtTNBOy6Ky8hiBfYHUtr9akn4lAY5mfr
  16. Here ya go. I'm polishing my boots for a Mama visit tomorrow. Mothers notice.
  17. Very nice. I like the finish on those. I've done some double loop lacing before. Seems like most of the demand for my stuff is for stitching and burnished edges. I'm thinkin', next time I get some time, I'll do a laced holster. Maybe something for a 4" S&W K frame just for fun. Well, I'll probably put it up for sale too.
  18. That's a good looking set. Sometimes we make stuff that people dreamed of before they even realize they were dreaming of it.
