Bigfoote replied to Rolandranch's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Wow nice job on that sheath! I'm also wondering if that is hand stitching? -
Nice job, lots of leatherworkers in Calgary! Is that hand sewn or machine?

Wow that is nice! I can see that patterning would be a challenge! Great job! -
I've kind of given up on the ecoflo products, pretty much only use Fiebings now and have had a lot better success. Their pro oil dyes are very easy to apply, and I haven't had the problems with dye streaking and such. That seat looks awesome hope you can salvage it!

Wow that is awesome! I've never seen a serpentine stamp used like that, very creative! It's art but a piece I would use and be proud to wear! -
Rifle butt stock cover
Bigfoote replied to Halitech's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Ya I have come to the conclusion 10oz is about right! Going to get a couple bends in that weight and make a bunch more up, they sell real good in my area.- 12 replies

Rifle butt stock cover
Bigfoote replied to Halitech's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Wondering what weight leather are you using on your slings? I made one out of 14oz saddle skirting I had kicking around, ended up making about 15 more for other people, and now my 8oz slings are not selling well??? I think the 14oz are way too stiff personaly, but you have to make what sells! I think I will standardize with 10oz, kind of happy medium.- 12 replies

Nice job Chief! What are you using for a finish on your leather, it looks great! -
Nice job Chief, looks awesome!

Wow nice work as always Chief!

Yup half hour or so and you turn some pretty mediocre chisels into awesome ones! I can pull my six tooth out of 2 layers of 4 oz with one finger holding the leather down! I used to use a block of wood and the old wiggle move.

I polished mine up with a fabric wheel on a dremel and some green polishing compound. Takes a little time, but they go in and out with no problem. Always use a little beeswax on them, that helps as well.
