  1. Nice, it looks very attractive.
  2. Nice! I need to make something like five of these for birthday gifts for all the girls in my family.
  3. Nice work! You guys make a killer team.
  4. Cool!
  5. Ha, Thor, I was just thinking the same thing. This might be a better way of doing what we were thinking. That way, it wouldn't all be down to one or two people.
  6. Thanks, Kaerkes - I really like the headbands you guys have made with the butterflies and flowers. Extremely attractive, and not something you usually see. Also, the mushroom carvings.
  7. Very nice bag! I really like how you planned in the spaces for the rivets on the d-ring keeper. You could skip the lacing entirely and stitch it. It doesn't take as long as lacing, but would still make it look like a higher quality item.
  8. Very impressive. Cool subject matter, too.
  9. It looks nice, Andy! I like the removable card holder.
  10. I will definitely help, but as you say, it's a gigantic job (which is why no one has done it, yet!) and it'll take a while. I'll try to work on it on and off as I roam around the forum. Don't count on my organization skills, though, I do haven't any.
  11. I have had trouble with good dye penetration after applying saddle soap as well. However, most finishing processes include sanding. Maybe it would help to saddle soap, sand, dye, then saddle soap again.
  12. There have been so many occasions where people have posted extensive lists... when I see them, I'll start collecting them into one document. If a couple of people do that when they see them and compare notes in a month or two, we should have a very decent beginners list/resource list pretty quickly.
  13. It looks great! I'd take even a half a belt that looks like that.
  14. Beautiful. What's inside the handle?
  15. Ha ha, don't worry about the double post. It always happens. I think you did a great job on this one. I like the thick retaining strap and the angle it was cut to. Also, the pouches. Very nice.
  16. Awesome!
  17. Lekoza is selling some Tiger thread sizes. Don't be afraid to buy from Abbey England if Lekoza doesn't have what you want - I got my shipment in two days. It's nice to be able to get smaller amounts of different colors of Tiger Thread on etsy, but it's substantially cheaper to buy 500m rolls from Abbey England, even including shipping. Of course, because I buy those big rolls, I only have black and white right now. So, yeah... there are trade-ins.
  18. I think JLS is right. It doesn't really look like they're embossed. The finish looks too smooth. It's pretty, though.
  19. Nice! I love the contrast with the lining!
  20. Thanks guys, I just barely got it done in time this month. As a side note, inlaying something soft makes the purse not work quite as well... oh well.
  21. I made one of these for my sister-in-law to go with her black purse, but I couldn't just make a plain black coin purse after all of you made such nice ones, so I made two. First one is black horween, second one is Derby horween with a piece of ostrich I got with my caiman pack, and lined with veg tanned. 6spi, tiger thread.
  22. From what I've heard from people who have ordered from Tannery Row, you'd be lucky if you get it in two weeks. @RS - I bought a side of Hermann Oak English Bridle leather from Springfield and ended up sending it back. It is ridiculously stiff. Like heavy duty posterboard. It was crazy stuff. Now, I've heard Hermann Oak is well known for the stiffness of its leather, but English Bridle just is that stiff. I was thinking the waxy stuff my horse's Bridle was made out of when I used to ride. Ha! When I asked about it on this forum, several people said that there's a big difference between the English Bridle, the Western Bridle, and the Show Bridle (or Harness? I forget what it's called). Some of it is more hot stuffed than the other. And actual British English Bridle is a great deal more hot stuffed, and thus more waxy and pliable. I don't know how waxy or pliable because I haven't bought any yet, but there's definitely a difference. When you look at the Wicket & Craig's price list, they'll say how much or how little they are hot stuffed, and there's definitely a difference. Just saying, talk to them about it and tell them what you're hoping to get.
  23. Mike, it turned out really well. Good choices on the dye! And the stitching looks nice, too.
