  1. Cool, Buttons. A murse or something for a girl who likes things a little less frilly.
  2. Yes, last time I made lined strap (for a bag), I used 3 oz. veg tanned for the lining. I've also used pig skin, but I don't like the texture very much.
  3. Cool, TRH. I like the airbrushing. Chris, I'm bad - I didn't end up making one of these. I started thinking the center of this design really needed support, like this one by dextannery. or it would be hard to close it without damaging the glasses. So instead I made several based on Norman Cahn's design: You should look through dextannery's shop. There are some pretty cool ideas for covering large car keys.
  4. I've had trouble with wrinkling when I put two pieces of the same leather together. Usually only with latigo, though. It's pretty stiff. I ended up using a softer leather to back it up.
  5. Dan, those are super cool. I'm jealous - I want my own all leather luggage. Those are not trivial projects, either.
  6. Very nice! I love the tooling, and it must have been nerve-wracking making that cut or groove through the dye and finish.
  7. This is a super-cool tutorial, and your books are awesome. Thank you for posting it!
  8. Wow, that's a fantastic bag. I can't believe the color came out so well. It looks like pre-dyed Horween leather or something. I really enjoyed the pictures of your process as well. I'm still looking through it, but I've already seen some helpful ideas.
  9. Oops, there might be intellectual property problems with copying this design. My bad. However, here are a few other similar items from google images:
  10. It's beautiful, Huns. Thanks for sharing the pictures!
  11. Ditto TinkerTailor- I would have been happy with the box. I am totally jealous of your find.
  12. Cool, that looks like a fun project! I've never made one - maybe someday.
  13. Tatyana, that is beautiful! Thanks for sharing pictures with us.
  14. +1 Nothing showcases this better than a bunch of strangers interacting on a forum.
  15. Cool! You might also want to move your stitching a little closer to the edge. Other than that, it looks great.
  16. lol, last time I stitched in a zipper, I ended up throwing it somewhere. But Conrad is right on. Glue or tape it and it should work out.
  17. I don't think these are lined, but that's up to you. Lining would drive your price up, and the whole point is a low-priced item. My thinking is that any kind of protection is better than a purse filled with loose change, cell-phones, and keys.
  18. Maybe sunglasses cases, like this one Norman Cahn makes. My sis-in-law was just saying her sunglasses always get scratched up because she puts them in her purse without a case. I have the same problem. Other people sell a lot of small items, but aside from bracelets, I never have. And the sizing on bracelets is so tricky, it didn't really feel worth it.
  19. I like the bird, I think it's cool. I haven't really put anything on my work, so far. First, I didn't want to drop money on a stamp. Last month, two or three years later, my husband made one for me: Nice of him, huh? I just finished a bag and completely forgot to use the stamp. Duh. If I can remember... I'm going to start stamping an inside pocket when I make a bag. I like the idea of an ink stamp on the flesh side of a wallet, though.
