  1. Are these still available Ray?
  2. It might be worth $100.00 just to "have it" working or not, just because it is cool. Especially if you have to room to display it. Pretty big paper weight though. More pics?? (This coming from me, a guy with a "Sanford" problem.)
  3. Simple, (though I am sure not simple to build) elegant!
  4. Hi Ray- I will take this lot if still available. I will email you to confirm... Thanks!
  5. Ray- I will take this if still available.. Thanks! DJ

    MORE TOOLS

Hi Ray- Just got off work and saw this post...bummer. I will purchase these and add them to my other "Ray's tools." Sending you an email.
  7. I was curious- looked it up. I have some old Craftaids- unfortunately, this isn't one of them...sorry.
  8. Ah, details. I didn't look, LA! Should be many options. Of course Uwe is correct. (I forget that not everyone lives in a state of just 3M people- more or less)
  9. Call Cowboy Bob- At Toledo. CB 3200. $1740.00 delivered (my zip code). Thread of your choice, extra bobbins, etc. Set up and adjusted, oiled ready to go...I bolted the head on to the table- watched Bob's threading the machine video about three times...I was sewing in less than 2 hours...AWESOME!
  10. I just wet the edge- rub a saddle soap bar on the edge- burnish. DO this about three times...re-dye...then rub in Pecard's dressing. good to go.
  11. Thanks! > spirit and oil both- I treat them the same > yes- I dilute for lighter color > two layers back to back 2/3 oz veg tan glued and stitched/ #9 copper rivets (you could tow your neighbors broke down Chevy with your Ford F150 with it) I usually put a light coat of pure neatsfoot oil on before staining (dry overnight). One of the tricks I learned the hard way- let each step dry before the next - for instance resolyne (spelling). Your air brush is great for spraying that too! Hope this helps...
  12. I used my airbrush on this dog collar (the black letters were done with a regular paint brush) I am no expert- but really enjoy the finishes that are possible. Daubers, sponges and rags dont work for me- no control. You will find the tool maddening at times. Air pressure, clogging, tip drying etc. Practice- and read as much as you can. YouTube videos are awesome. Use old t shirts and paper to practice. Start with light coats...you can always "add more color" if you decide your piece needs it. Experiment with dyes and color- on this one I used full strength Fiebings saddle tan as a base. Mixed up some other colors for flowers etc. I do use alcohol for mixing regular dye ( haven't used the low VOC) Also use alcohol for airbrush clean up...works very well. seals haven't been an issue. Have fun!
  13. I would buy "books" first. Basics of leather carving, stitching and finishing. Invaluable resources and a long term investment. (seems/ sounds a little old fashioned I guess- I use many I have had for years for reference- just my opinion- FWIW)
  14. Uwe- I would purchase ANYTHING you have worked on/ improved/serviced. Not this time..but maybe next time!! Enjoy your video's immensely. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Thanks Dfrensdorff! Horween collars, lucky dogs. Ray- That is a good one too! I had to look twice to find it- funny how our brains work!
  16. Yeah I feel ya- I was making a simple belt for a guy.....oriented the stamp the wrong direction...very last one too! Now its a dog collar!
  17. Thanks- found some nice hardware at Weaver. Also started using a machine- CB 3200. Very cool!
  18. Call Cowboy Bob at Toledo 1-800-362-7397- tell him what you want to do, what you intend to do...he will set you up. BTW- I am using 277 boded nylon in my CB3200...(top and bottom) I was screwing around the other day and stitched some 3-4 oz leather to a pocket I cut out of an old pair of jeans- worked just fine...fun stuff!
  19. SCORE! Looking forward to seeing some pictures!
  20. Found in an Antique store. Purchased last year for $60.00. Cool!
  21. These are cool: print them out and hang them in the shop cool. Thanks!
  22. That is crazy cool! I can't imagine taking something like this...AWESOME!!
