  1. Thanks this is the kind of people who make this the best foram on line. Helping friends should mean as much to new and unknown friends . Just feels good to help people it pays off in the end life is short easier to be nice then mean . Thanks again I've never made one from scratch this will help. Gary
  2. A 50'x 50' insulated heated and air conditioned shop, an awl and needle sewing machine, a cowboy 4500, 4'x8 cutting table , rivet and snap setter , clicker hydraulic , 10 hides different thicknesses , plus bison and horse even some exotics , an assortment of dies and a splitter 24" . Room to work and show from.
  3. Something's you have to figure when you decide the color of thread the snaps or buttons even the leather dyes and such. Most everyone uses a spool of white waxed thread this can be a flat or braided style most of the companies carry these ck eBay even. When I sew with an awl I use a thread to coincide with the sizes of needle and awl. Buy yourself a grooving tool it helps a lot . Then practice look into the patterns that are on his sight download them tutorials are ther too. Gary
  4. The Velcro idea would work or something with loops and slots and maybe a piece of wood or antler like a frontiersman style belt . Gary
  5. Somebody's going to get a great set up with a great price. Wish I new a shipper I'd get it , oh well tough being wheelchair bound your mileage shortens . Gary
  6. Pictures please thanks Gary
  7. Same for me your dream machine is what we want , the dedication you show makes the company what it is , we thank you Gary an owner someday .
  8. Everyone wants some must be good , how much is this compared to others available ?
  9. One word says it wow , some really nice tools Gary
  10. Isn't that what we are for to help one another, I know when I help someone I think I'm the one who benefits , thanks to all on this foram it's what makes us who we are. Gary
  11. Did you ever sell these parts if not how much for them or some of them I'd like a few of the parts as spares for mine , and a edge guide . Thanks Gary oh and an lube pot would be great
  12. Very nice someday I'll try some of that leather. I don't think it's period tho , but I'd be proud of it too. I hear it's hard to hand sew from what I've read. What machine did you sew it with ? I'm new and trying to get as much info as I can Thanks Gary
  13. Ed Ames or tonto with a hat and eye patch,
  14. Just my two cents, even the best mechanics cannot repair an item miles away from his shop. I've had several dealings with bob and bob at Toledo sewing, they are willing to share there expertise on repairs on all kinds of sewing equipment. Anyone influenced by the video would be more likely not worth having as clients. I deal with people daily my specialty is small engines and mowers no mater what there machine does when it's done at my shop I cannot control what happens when it's at there house I get blamed for stale gas and no oil but when it left it didn't have a problem the people save the old gas put it back in and bang problems back , just an example we don't control what happens when it leaves the shop. But we still are willing to fix it I've did one three times before they would get rid of there old gas can , try to understand we do our best and we want happy customers not lost ones or mad ones. Gary
  15. There ya go putting a little bit of yourself in your work again , yea I know smarty pants, seems like I do it too. Bet if ya sharpen it good it would make a hole punch . I've done it best to turn it back and forth with down pressure don't strike with hammer .... For a few holes or rounds it's cheap and is pretty fast too.
  16. If you were closer to me I'd take it , best thing to do with it is replace the motor with a servo motor set up. It will make it easier to control . They are nice machines and make a nice stitch . Gary
  17. I'm a basic newbie but I'm gona make this. I kinda work out of my hospital bed in my house on leather projects. I have a nice sewing machine in my garage but it's been so miserable weather wise I don't get out there in the winter. But I cut sew glue light tooling and finish here. Using a lot of scrap leather from eBay my stuff is mostly functional . I call it .. It ain't pretty but it works , the people on here make beautiful items but I try to improve on each item . Thanks for all the help gary
  18. Looks like your doing a great job . Any good welder can weld up cast iron , somtimes just a nickel rod will do if not clean up real good and braze it together , you would be surprised how well brazeing holds up mount the wax pot it makes the machine complete. Gary
  19. If they don't sell I'm interested in a few items thanks some prices of what you want would help.
  20. You could easily use 2 eye bolts to regulate the depth of cut with wing nuts and a locking nut . Then on the blade mount if you spring mount it down you could tilt the blade up then as you start to pull your cut the blade would go right down and stop with the spring pressure. Should work
  21. John Wayne should be right up there with other patriots , he is an icon still today. I wish I could have been able to get to no him in person. I'll bet Chill Wills and him had fun making the movies they made. I think both liked there whiskey at the end of the day. I'm thinking of making a rig like he had in stagecoach and one from later movies with the rough out style and canvas bullet holders .
  22. Try soaking with some mineral spirits then use some kerosene let the soak even spray on a couple times for each let it flush out the rust and gummy oil or grease. If that doesn't free it up start dismantling and wire brush with solvent . Lay parts out so you remember how to put them back , the bent adjuster on top if you heat it up some with a torch it might straitene up to where it will still work take your time place a nut driver or small pipe over it to bend it back . Don't torch after using anything flammable tho. Common sence but I figuare I should say it. You can get the parts breakdown and manual from the singer site free download ! If you get stuck call Bob at Toledo sewing machine or ck his banner on top of page
  23. If you do most recommend the servo motor, they work ell and you can slow it down. If you want it real slow buy a speed reducer at the same time . Hard to beat the old singers lots of parts Avilable too.
  24. Looks good be something different at a cowboy shoot. Nice work. Silverbullet
