  1. Given me some ideas for a knife I own , I like the scalloped edge and rivets think I'll add some fringe on the edge in the welt maybe even sew scallop rings for more highlight thanks for the inspiration . Silverbullet
  2. The machines today are not made like the old ones. The time to machine and forge items are cut to make the item cheaper, ck the price of an Adler 205 and compare it to the china clone , the machining and fitting on the Adler is done with precision on all fronts as is the price . Don't knock the clones they are built like tanks but sometimes little things crop up. The guys here who sell them stand behind there products they have gone over and cked every machine they sell , sometimes it's the people who buy them don't take the time to get to know the machine .every thing takes time to learn even a new car takes some time getting use to it. And you wouldn't use your pick up truck to haul a load of liquid cement , just not made for it . I have two old singers a 29-4 and an 111w155 plus two alders an 30-1 and a 104-25 all of these are great for the purpose they are intended. None of my machines will sew 3/4" but my limited means these work for me I'd like to sell them and get a cowboy or a cobra. But ya know I like my old ones and thanks to Bob Kovar at Toledo sewing I keep them running and in good condition . A special thanks to Bob and his dad Bob too . Gary , ck with them they sell used ones too.
  3. Never really thought about making my own stamping tools some of the designs are easy to copy , I've even got some thread files can make diamonds to make a backgrounder kool thanks for the motivation Gary
  4. Look like $300 dollar machines to me ,just my estimate no one will want the old motors most want the servo motors now , gives much better control for leather sewing. My 2 cents and thats all it's worth Gary
  5. The only decent priced item was sold the Adler 105 . The presses are at list I would have made offers but at there rate never happen at the most the rivet presses should be about a hundred bucks not $299.
  6. Nice job pretty wood with the tung oil finish. I made mine from a piece of hundred year old red wood totally blemish free , and extremely light . The heaviest part is the block at the base which I made swivel and tilt like the Japan made ones for a few hundred dollars. Nice to see others work thanks Gary a fellow woodworker and jack of all trades .
  7. Wow I want one set too , I have a tough time to. Seems I always get them bent up or twisted . Thanks Gary
  8. I know lots of shooters who would love your work wish I could deliver bags like these. Your items are plan beautiful . You should advertise these on trapshooters.com , there's a guy selling some but not of your quality . Gary.
  9. You could get an arbor motor mount with the 5/8 hole and the shafts are usually 1/2" twenty threads , some are 3/8 twenty four threads. They mount with two set screws easily could drill a hole in a Burnisher and epoxy it to the end . Then just install and remove with an Allen wrench on the 1/2- 20 you could buy an drill chuck and mount it to one too same threads are in drill chucks . Limit less use from an old motor. Use your imagination make all your tools from one. Gary
  10. I made a small belt bag using wooden ends to use with black powder musket rounds. I used glue and upholstery nails plus a gusset to keep water out on flap with a belt strap and Sam Browne button . Looks neat like the bag here. I thought I was cheating by ot using all leather like the original item. Live and learn I guess. Works for me so it's good .thanks Gary
  11. Shucks I usually just wear all my spills , been times it took several washings to get it off. Let alone out of my clothes the wife thinks I'm a bum sometimes but I refuse to not wear out clothing even with stains . Why do people worry about stains on my clothes she thinks we're high society I think , dosent bother me ,shows I'm not afraid to work and get dirty not that I'm a slob I'm just frugle , at least she can't holler for making a mess on her floor . I do most all my leather working from a hospital bed in our dining room / my bedroom . Man I catch he ll when tooling or setting snaps for the hammer noise could be worse could be dead no noises then right. So I do get lots of spills just goes with the job yupp I'm havin fun and learning and getting better someday I'll post some pics. Well maybe if I think it looks good enough , some of he people on here are pure artist no doubt about it . Gary

  20. Super I like the mini maul key chain , if you make a bunch ,how much for one, thanks Gary
  21. You miss the point, the cost of the poly from the store your quoting is why I bid on the box lot of peices , the cost of a good maul. Is at least twice what I paid for the lot itself. Plus building it myself is gratifying . Sounds like you should just bite the bullet and buy new.
  22. Last year I did what your going to do. I found a large box of assorted poly rods different sizes and colors , some softer then others. I made a black one about 24 oz. the black seemed harder but not breakable , the larger white one I added very heavy washers and an 5/8" bolt for he handle . Black one I used a handle from an old string trimmer aluminum lower handle had a sponge grip works well my favorite of the two. Oh the white one I used a grip over the bolt with a tube to make the size of the grip 7/8" . The poly cuts nice and drills easy too. The black seemed to kinda get hot and welded it self if you work it to hard. Still I got the box and could make at least 6 more, even have a peace of green about 6" in diameter x 5" or so, and smaller black also . Ck eBay I paid I think with shipping about $25.00 plus or minus $5.00 . Gary
  23. Do you have and want to sell the wax pot ? Or oil pot some call them thanks Gary
