  1. the fact that it doesn't give a thickness (1mm or 0.035", etc) makes me wonder just how heavy the thread will be when you get it. It looks a lot like tandy's Waxed Linen Thread and that stuff is 0.08mm (0.031") but no way to know and nothing to compare it to in their image
  2. not a bad price. if my local guy fails to deliver I may get a set from you
  3. ok, I got ya but the stamps are done in reverse to start with so the image shows properly when pressed into the leather
  4. /bows down to the Master and the master has spoken
  5. you lost me. what do you mean if it was mirrored? if what was mirrored? and the c clamp just takes the place of the arbor press
  6. nice looking burnishers. What kind of price are you charging for them?
  7. to be honest I've never tried but I doubt it, least not many. You could grab a cheap c clamp though and use that
  8. Looking at the one Marshy made, certainly not. It looks like your stamp is only about 1/8" or so thick. I have a contact here that makes custom stamps for me for $4.00-$7.00 each and he layers them until they are almost 1" thick. I use them with a 1ton arbor press and they stand up great. You may want to make them thicker and you'll find you may not need 2 clamps Here's one I had made
  9. if the stress on the item is low, use a thonging chisel (ie wallet edging). If the stress is high (ie motorcycle seat) then use round holes. The slits will be more likely to tear in a high stress location compared to round holes
  10. buff the living crap out of the flesh side, slick with water then hit with the resolene or beeswax. Better option is to line or leave natural color
  11. the ones I've made, I take the width, add the depth then add the thickness of the leather plus any lining. Also add whatever amount you plan on using for your stitching area. I usually line with felt that's about 3/16" thick so it gives a little extra forgiveness.
  12. To get an idea, look at how many bags you make in a 6 month period and see how many use zippers. Then figure out how many need each type of zipper. Add all the bags together that use each one and order double if you see production increasing in the next year
  13. still not sure where I found it but here it is
  14. I forget where I found it but I found a bracelet and necklace length guide. I'll see if I can find it and upload it for you
  15. might help if you posted a few pictures so we can see what issues you are having
  16. you can try some of the hand made gadgets found with a youtube search, pay someone to do it for you or buy a splitter. If you plan on doing a lot of them, buy your own splitter. However, cutting your own blanks at the 2 weights you want will be cheaper, especially if you go with the same weight for both the front and the back.
  17. take 2 pieces of garment leather, hold them together and pull. If you can live with the 3" of stretch in a belt, it will do great. If not, get some 6oz (minimum) veg tanned leather and line it with the garment. Make sure you glue it and then stitch it well (by hand, not on your home sewing machine)
  18. if things are selling that high down under, I'm in the wrong country. Even at 25.00 worth of supplies, it wouldn't go for any more then 30.00 up here and even then, you'd be waiting for the right person for a while. Not saying it's not nice work but the market would never support that price
  19. stitches should be closer to the USB drive or it will loosen and fall out should cut off a lot more of the excess on the edges or they will pull apart I'd put a grommet or eyelet in the hole where you have the key ring I'd figure out some way of putting a flap over the tip to protect it as well, especially since it's being carried upside down
  20. unless you have a dedicated place on your bench for that beast, go for the thinner piece from a local shop that does countertops so you can move it when you aren't using it. I got an oval piece for free that is about 9x14x1 from a local shop
  21. I'm with you guys, I also picked one up on the weekend during the black Friday sale. I've been looking at it for a while but couldn't justify the 97.00 (Cdn) price tag so when I saw it for 27, I grabbed it. Haven't had a chance to actually use it yet but I'll be stropping it before I use it
  22. not exactly a box stitch as you have a butt joint, not a 90 but same idea http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41233
  23. is it veg tanned pigskin, sueded or chrome tanned? If veg tanned, treat the same as the belt. If it's chrome, nothing really needed. If it's suede, good question
  24. tan kote will slick it down however, on anything that will be bending, it may crack if you put it on too thick. just wet it down and run a glass slicker over it
  25. I know this will sound stupid but 1. don't let them see you sweat. you know your work, you know leather, just be confident 2. Say Hi to EVERYONE that walks by, even if they don't seem like they are interested in what you are selling. I've gotten more sales by getting them to stop and taking a look just by saying hello as they walked by 3. don't use stickers to tag your prices, use something that can be tied on
