A consew 206rb is also a good machine to be on the look out for in the used market. Depending on where you live, there may or may not be many used leather machines for sale. if you are on the hunt for a used machine, check the classifieds and craigslist frequently. Used machines here with a reasonable price sell within a few days of being posted, sometimes quicker. I got lucky and snagged a deal because I logged on about the same time a machine was posted and called immediately.

The real question is, What do you want to sew, and will this machine sew that. If not, you are throwing 425$ at something that wont do what you want whether its a good machine or not.

Sucks, but this is standard Operating procedure for big tools. When I buy large woodworking equipment, I generally have them ship it to the local shipping center, then I go pick it up there(where they have fork lifts). Saves 100$ or so. Delivery trucks with lift gates are generally smaller and don't haul as much freight, so the economy of shipping costs are higher. The bigger trucks are loaded and off loaded at shipping centers with loading docks and fork lifts/pallet jacks. Shipping companies use to be more accommodating, but not so much anymore. Are these machines shipped in one large pallet/crate, or is it several smaller boxes on a pallet?

I may have taken a large metallic object to his head for that.

You may want to try the Weldwood Gel formula, its not nearly as stringy and messy as original formula contact cements. I switched over to that, and I don't make nearly the mess I used to

Nice bag. Here is my two cents for tips. The border tool looks like it was stamped when the leather was too dry, and you didn't get much depth in the impression. I like to bring the border tool a bit further off the stitch line so it doesn't give the stitch line a cluttered look. If you glue the part that attaches the handle to the bag first, you can trim it flush then burnish giving it a super clean look like it is one piece of leather.

Most of the Tandy brand stuff is pretty bad, in my opinion.

They are about 9 inches tall.

Lining is cloth from JoAnne Fabric. I got the WVU fabric online.

This is the only way I know how to get an even finish that isn't dark using dye.

THanks This was all original. I cut up an old Zales paper bag to make the body template. The pockets were trial and error. I wanted to make them draw string purses, and ended up using a Bolo tie because I didn't know how to make a tassle to terminate a braided cord.

Earlier this year, my parents came to visit, and I made a gunbelt and holster for my dad. While dad and I were looking at leather, mom starts stacking up leather and hardware on the counter and says, you can make me a purse with this. I agreed to make her one since I was making a holster for dad. She loved, and shared pictures everything, and I ended up making another for a Cattle Growers convention auction. Then my mom wanted another one in a different color, then my uncle wanted one for my aunt, then my mom wanted me to make purses for family members for Christmas. I finaly finished them all, and I am done with purses.

I finally broke down and bought a nice air brush to spray on finishes on leather. I only way I know to fix your problem is get more dye apply enough to get an even color. This will make it considerably darker.

Not all acrylic paints are water based. There are Acrylic Lacquers, Acrylic Enamels, etc.

Not all acrylics are water based, but as far as I know, all the acrylic paints geared towards leatherworking are water based.

This did not yield any results for me.

Since you said purses, buy a cylinder arm, you will not regret it.
