  1. Don, very nice work..it looks like a picture of a real leaf!!
  2. Hey SteveB, i just spent a half hour on you web site...such cool stuff. I'm really impressed.!!!!
  3. Very nice work belabear.....I think those Puuko (sp??) type knives are pretty cool, I see a lot of them posted on the knife forums. Did you install a welt between the layers of leather where you stitched?
  4. well it's a lot easier for you to get to the kangaroos
  5. Thanks John, that's as nice a pattern as I've ever seen for an oak leaf, i will surely use it.
  6. Rich, do you offer clicker die services...meaning you have dies available and you stamp out leather for things, or do you just make dies, or both?? I would love to have leather precut for projects I do a lot of, but I wouldn't want to invest in the press, etc. Thanks, RG
  7. Seems like for a .22 gun rig, a pouch strapped to the belt to carry rounds in would be more practical. Not too traditional looking, but they didn't "traditionally" pack .22s either. Just a thought.....
  8. That's exactly what I was trying to describe in words, only diff is you mount the clip to a piece of leather then sew it on....good idea, then you don't have to line the entire sheath...I like that!
  9. Sounds like compounding the work, and being the lazy guy I am, I would just as soon stitch right to the belt...that's my plan anywayz.
  10. Alvin...the reason the clip is loose is because the part of the clip you rivet goes inside the sheath. You have to punch two oblong slots, one at the top of the clip to allow the fold of the clip come outside the backing, and a second one where the indentation of the clip is at. This makes the clip stay in place. My order of go would be: 1. mold 2. dye 3. punch and attach clip 4. stitch 5. seal/finish 6. have a beer I also usually line this type of sheath so the clip won't rub agains the knife. Hope this helps, if it's not clear let me know, I'll send a picture.
  11. Looks great Mike! By the way, I get a lot of commliments on my bracelet.
  12. Tony, it's the Super Bowl of rodeo. And Cowboy Christmas is this huge trade show type event where you can buy everything Western you can imagine...and no, you're not ignorant....just when we think we're safe to ask "beginner" questions, we get blasted with "what planet you from" remarks huh??
  13. NO NO NO...that's not my work...someday maybe...I just wanted to show you those .22 loops...not a bad piece of leather either huh??
  14. Have you tried this place...oldtradingpost.com The rigs sure look nice but the prices seem low....anybody know about this place??
  15. Nice gun leather!! I plan to build my first one later this winter..show us more. And I'd also like to see those buckles you make. Thanks for joining us.
  16. I like it Mike!! Looks like a Buck 110 will fit in there nice and cozy!! Good job.
  17. Chris, I believe for your first attempt, this is outstanding!. (In Marine talk, don't get any better than that!) You'll improve by accident, just keep doing more of it. I envy good carving work on account of I don't have the patience for it. RG
  18. Welder, just yesterday my 6 yr. old grandson was over and spent some time in my little shop inspecting just about everything he could pick up. Had to keep a close eye on him cuzz there's lot's of stuff with sharp points/razor edges laying around. I hear he's getting a guitar for Christmas....a strap may be in order huh? RG
  19. Nice rig Grunt....I like it a lot....looks like good solid using gear. Try this next time on the retention strap...make it from the part of the leather next to the belt loop. so it's actually part of the back layer of leather, just split it away from the part that makes up the belt loop...hope I'm clear in describing that...let me know if I'm not...I'll send you a drawing as only I can draw it...
  20. Welcome TwinOaks...where you from? Just wondering where they say "wilst"...can't be Texas...I think I've read it once tho, wilst in high school.... Anyway, you'll learn a lot here, salute!! RG
  21. Johanna....Singer/song writer Steve Earle sings of a "Fearless Heart", kinda reminds me of you... Again...THANKS for all you do, and I know you have to feel good knowing how much so many of us appreciate what you do.
