First sign I know my glucose is off is blurry vision. I have worn hi index progressive bifocals for years. Best things I have found is natural light from a large window and task lighting from above and slightly behind. Ahh the wonders of age progression, wiser but blinder, a youngster at heart but physically a geezer The hot tub helps!

KISS works for me, I have a sometimes uncontrollable urge to go overboard with ideas. You could go broke by going extravagant (spellchk is a great thingLOL) I started with a 10 x 10 EZ UP $150.00 at Home Depot, 3 to 600 on their (ezup web site for commercial grade!) 2 Folding tables $30.00 ea. a folding chair I had laying around. A couple of twin sheets and some table cloth clips. I made some simple display racks from wood bought a cash box and will expand on things if business warrants. I know it ain't the prettiest on the block but so far I think I have gone home with a heavier cash box than some of the more elaborate looking stall vendors. Signage would be helpful but I don't/can't spend the moola right now. Everything fits in my 83 320i and sets up and breaks down fast, probably 15 min. tops. Never know when bad weather will force the selling to stop, that reminds me I gotta get some weights for the canopy. There was a real cool post a while back of a setup with solar panels to run the sewing machine and such. I would like to see and have more details on that one again! Oh yea yesterday was spent making some oak slats to replace the cheapo hollow metal frame struts on the canopy that have broken from wind and such.

Can't really add much to what has already been suggested, but I gotta say from where I sit, wet molding them would be in the category of Dream Job

Here it is, Walther P22
Jordan replied to Jordan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Customer liked it enough to tip 5 bucks, did real well at the farmers market today, gotta sink it into leather and tools to keep the ball rolling. It was a real exercise to make that one and I don't think I will be making another anytime soon. I am a bit surprised that the sandal key fobs aren't selling but can't seem to make enough wristbands, I hope this continues thru the summer so I can stock up for winter projects. -

A suggestion from Kevin, I added a chicago screw with some leather washers to close up the nose of the holster, it helped hold the pistol in position better and as a added bonus got rid of the little stain on the front that stuck out like a sore thumb Thanks. -
Here is the holster I came up with for a Walther P22 with a lite/lazer. There is definitely inherent problems with this setup, not the least of which is the lite/lazer is not the right one for the pistol, the lock channel on the rail does not engage so the darn thing stayed in the holster a couple of times, and pancake probably not the way to go due to the added width of the holster. I am pretty skinny so it won't follow my belt and wrap around my bony hip. Customer will be picking it up tomorrow so I will find out if it will work for him. I will not be making anymore like this, too much dang trouble! maybe as a design excersize in the future. Personally I don't see the need for a lite/lazer on a .22 but it is a neat little unit.

I woulod like some suggestions
Jordan replied to Jordan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
This is what I have come up with so far. I built up the innards to make some room for the light, still need to cut a thin piece for the front/ mouth area as customer wants basketweave trim plus I think it will help hold it open. I incorporated a strap that will wrap just beneath the hammer and snap to the afore mentioned trim strip. I still have to fashion a wood filler for the area behind the light for moulding. I decided (don't really know why) to have the strap part of the sweat shield and snap in the front. This holster is more a carrying bucket than a functional quicksdraw Mcgraw so far I am happy with it but as we all know the magic happens at the end. LOL -
The only letters I have seen are designed for belts which are probably too large, You may find some at places like Joannes Fabric or some other craft type store

Being Sunday I have not even stepped into the workshop, but yesterday I did note that the attached light is as thin as the pistol but does extend past the end of the barrel a little, so far most of my time has been spent just thinking about it and the build process. Tomorrow will be pen to paper and probably cut some leather -

Thanks for the photos and insight, looks kind of like what I pictured in my minds eye. I have about a week to put one together and I get the impression after a face to face discussion about the construction and use of this type of holster, he understands the issues with it's use. And as you mentioned I don't see me making to many of this type but it will be an interesting challenge. I will post some photos of what I come up with. Thanks again and that is a very nice looking holster, your work is very impressive as usual. Jordan -
I just got an order for a holster for a Walther P22 with an under the barrel light and am starting my design process, any suggestions as to how to allow room for, and clearance upon drawing for this would be appreciated, I am going with a pancake style with belt slots and molding will be probably 50/50 on the front and back pieces, with a sweat/anti pinch ear around the hammer area. I am thinking some type of leather plug sanwiched to add thickness around the light and trigger guard to allow a smoother draw. Is this on the right track? Or ?

If I can make a suggestion, Three metal cigar tubes taped together would make a decent pattern or even covering them with leather would be pretty cool, I think they are airtight too.

All is right in leatherland again, wheew. For a while I thought they paved paradise and put up a parking lot (joni mitchell wafting in the background). One thing I just noted when I clicked from the new post page back to the main forum page then clicked to see all new posts again they all disappeared, all the ones I had not read yet where marked read and did not show up.

My work is no where near the quality I see on this board. Having established that, constructive comments are always welcome. I am of the opinion that it is very obvious to most readers when a statement by a writer is meant to be helpful or hurtful. I appreciate the fact that members of this board strive to be helpful and take the time to think about what they write in the you suck arena.

Psst! meet me in that dark alley at midnight and I can sell you that book cover you need! As a self proclaimed Artisy type that is troubling on soooo many levels. -
Couple of new Checkbook covers
Jordan replied to Jordan's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks for the positive notes. I did ok for the first day of the market, wristbands and cell cases sold real well and a lot of interest in my rendition of sandals. Now if every Saturday thru September is as good it will be worth the costs. It would appear that the younger people don't know what a checkbook cover is! LOL. I guess they are happy giving their money over to the electronic controls of the banks, but thats a whole nuther paranoid rant of mine! I will be busy restocking this week. It appears that my items with religious icons may cause some difficulty with some closed minded customers and the organizers, apparently it opens the door to groups with other views, to demand the right to preach their doctrines. I may need to cover them with paper, like they cover cosmo and other magazines in the supermarkets around here, jeez what a place. :soapbox: -
Yes I get that flyer, still miss the doodles. LOL

I finally got confirmation from the farmers market for a booth. Two days ago, it starts tomorrow morning. I really didn't want to spend any money for leather and such before I knew for sure. But they cut it close! luckily I have been making items slowly over the last few weeks so I do have some inventory. Anyway here is a couple of check covers I completed about an hour ago.
-
As a side note I noticed that I have not received the newsletter since I changed to a resale account with Tandy a few months back. Kind of miss it, especially the doodle and pattern stuff. Guess I will have to remember to ask about it on my next foray into Tandydom.

I think everyone can relate to most of what you have experienced LMAO cuz most of it is a daily occurance around here. Now where did I put that tin can full of treasures!

Coming from a woodworking background I tend to think in a concrete, symmetrical and measured way, working in other more flexible materials is a difficult transition to make, kinda shakes the foundations, but still leaves the question of the proper seat position unanswered
-
Another thought, probably more work than it's worth, but some chicago screws or line snaps, buffalo nickles or other coins, a doming block from harbor freight and some solder would make some nifty snaps or buttons.

Nice work, as for the verse, I remember trying to decide to watch Mr. Ed or My Mother the Car, usually flipped back and forth. Hehehe
