Let me see I've got a real nice scar below one thumb from a draw gauge slipping. In one index finger I've got a few hard spots from running a fid through it a couple of times and a few other scars from leather working knives. Non leather related to list a few. Nice scar on leg from chainsaw and one on my side from falling through a low barn roof and landing on a piece of corrugated steel that was on edge. And cutting the tip off of a finger in a garage door which it hurt worse when they sewed it back on. And my all time favorite which didn't leave a scar was nailing three fingers together with a framing gun. If that wasn't bad enough the nails had some kind of glue on them. I was working on my house which is out in the county and I was by myself so with a few cuss words and a pair of pliers I did get the nail out. And thats just to list a few. And I wonder why the wife gets nervous when she sees a power tool in my hand. Mike

Rob Great looking work my friend!! I really like the last two. How did ya do the interweave on the middle one? Thanks alot for posting as it was a long run with nobody showing any work. Hopefully I can get back after it pretty soon before I forget everything. Mike

CitizenKate As soon as the weather clears I'l take a photo. It's still in the rough stage of being undone. And then when I get it done (could be awhile) I'll post another picture. It's neat ya said that as my best memories are of building forts and playing cowboys and indians. Not of store bought toys or tv( which we really didn't have). I think todays kids are missing out on that wonderful thing called imagineation(sp)I'll quit rambling now. Have a goodnight. Mike

SteveBramley That's nice to know. I read on here somewhere about putting a tennis ball under the treadle to give more control I'll have to give it whirl. It would be nice to have the servo. Maybe after I start making a little money doing this. Until then as my daddy says poor people have poor ways!! arteinmiami (wow long name) Thanks for your reply and info!! I'm not to sure what all I'm going to be doing as of yet. But if I figure it out and don't need some stuff I'll keep ya in mind. And a GREAT BIG WELCOME to a dang great site. Mike

Happy Birthday Leathercat!!! I hope ya have a great day!! Mike

Bree I'll have to try loosening the belt. I really wont need alot of power right off. Mike

calanneh I feel your pain!! I do that with alot of stuff. Right now I haven't been doing much braiding or anything else due to the freestanding treehouse I'm building for my kids. They would have been tickled pink with one thrown together. But not ol dad!! It's 9'x9' and 6' ceiling and the gable roof adds another 4' of head room. The whole thing is about 9' off the ground. When finished it will have a 4ft walk around deck, finished woodfloors,a loft, and be wired. The *amn thing just keeps getting stuff added to it. And it's driving my wife nuts!!! Luckly I've used alot of reclaimed lumber. The kids will really enjoy it if I ever get it done!! And I promise I will screw something up before I'm done. Thats just one exzample of me not knowing when to stop. Mike

Thanks Bree I think your right about adding the servo. But unfortunately for now I'll have to learn on this speed demon. And then change to the servo when I get some more cash. Mike

Earl Thanks for replying. I think I will leave it alone for now. I looked at the motor and it's a 1/2 horse and the rpm is 1725. But it sure looks fast to me. I guess that shows my inexperience with sewing machines. Mike

SteveBrambley Thank You for your reply. The fella I bought the machine from says his dad used it to recover furniture. You are right I don't think it will be easy to replace the system. But I really don't want to run a compressor in the house so I'll have to buck up and do it. Mike

Hello everyone I just bought a Pfaff from a fella in KC Mo. He also as a JUKI LU -562 for sale and is asking $1,000 for it. He says it's worth $2,500 new. I don't know anything about sewing machines but it looked in good condition. I have no interest in this machine nor will I get any money from it. I'm just trying to help the fella out and maybe someone here get a good deal. He might take less he did on the machine I bought. His name is Montey and his home#(816)216-7474 Cell#(816)506-1745 So if your interested give him a holler. Mike

Art Thanks for your replie. I didn't get a computer with it and I don't think I would need anything that fancy for what I'm going to do. So with that being said canI take the thing off or go around it somehow to make the knee lifter work. Thanks Mike

8thsinner Nice looking little whip!! Mike

Thanks Bruce Does a fella have to use it. This fella also has a Juki for sale I told him I'd post on here. If anyone is looking ya could probably get a deal. Mike

Tina Great piece of work from the tooling(carving?) to the edge braid!!!! Mike
-
If ya look at Tina's notebook you will see a excellent example of a edge braid. There are more to choose from. If ya look at some of the motorcycle seats or billfolds ya will probably see more. Mike

Howdy to all!! I'm pretty excited I got the Pfaff picked up and can't wait to use it. The seller couldn't find the manual so I'm trying to track one down on the net. Meanwhile I have a few questions( go figure) What I'm wanting to start out sewing is some hair on stuff. The question is what size of thread should a fella use for that and what size of thread should I use for headstalls (3/16th to 1/4"thick) not sure of ounces. I reckon that when I order the thread they can tell me what size needles I need. Next question is it came with some feet can someone tell me what they are used for and will they work for what I want to do. Next question on top of the machine there are holes with red around them I reckon those get oil but how much oil and how often. And do ya have to use Pfaff oil and grease or will singer or other brands work. More questions there is a thingymbob on the side of the machine that looks like ya hook a air source to what is it and do ya have to use it. The foot looks like it lift up about 3/4" so will it so that much. This thing hasn't been ran in a year or a little better is there some stuff I need to do before I run the heck out of it (couple hrs aweek). Sorry for all the questions but this thing runs scary fast. So I want to make sure I do what I need to do so I don't break it or hurt myself!! Thanks for all the help that can be offered in helping me learn this machine. I'll have to add more pics. Mike
