  1. Thanks Johanna It couldn't be said any better. May everyone say a prayer for the servicemen and women that can't be with their families on the holidays. Mike
  2. Real nice work!! Love the finger carving. Mike
  3. First we'll go to my mom in-laws for lunch. There will probably be around ten people there. She will fix a ham, mash potatoes and gravy, greenbean casserole, cheese grits and some pies. Me and the wife will take some candied yams. Her mom always has a real nice sit down around the table kinda of lunches and suppers which are nice. Then later that day we'll go to my moms side and it will be a pot luck. Counting kids probably 35 to 45 people. My wife will make some pecan pies to take. And it's a whole different deal eating at one of my family meals there ain't nothing organized about them. The first time I took the wife to one when we were dating I figured she would say there ain't no way in heck I'm marring into that family. But it's worked out. And either Christmas Eve or a day after Christmas we'll cook a ham at the house with all the fixing and have her dad and his girlfriend over. And I need to run down home(Okla.) and see my dad and two brothers down there. Most of his side of the family is down there. And by this point I'm ready for the Holidays to be over. Mike
  4. Tim If your still looking for someone to make you a stampede string give me a holler through the pm. I can braid it out of roo or rawhide or a combo. Thanks, Mike
  5. Ed I used my belt sander to grind the teeth off of my pressure foot. I don't know if it's hardened steel or not. The foot is a pfaff. Mike
  6. colder than a well diggers butt!! The wind is unbelievably cold!!! Gawd I hate winter!! Mike
  7. Bruce I'm always on the lookout. But the wife just might divorce me if I get anymore. Julia I plan on useing it to split rawhide strings down real thin. It seems my model 84 wants to cut real fine strings in two. So I figure to give this a whirl. I haven't used this type before but I think you set the depth by the two knobs on top. The roller part will swing back you then insert the strap and pull. I believe as you pull the roller applies downward pressure causing the strap to push the piece of thin metal down enough to allow the strap through at the desired thickness. Maybe someone will give a better description. It will probaly be afew days before I have a chance to mount it but I will post pics. when I do. You also need to cut a hole in whatever you mount it to so the split can fall away. Mike
  8. Here is a splitter I just got to go with my osborne model 84. Mike
  9. I'm with ya Bree!!!! When my 4th grade daughter has math homework and it involves metric stuff I holler at the wife and let her help the girl. Mike
  10. Tina,Tashabear Thanks, She does love it and I'm sure I'll get alot more practice between the wife and my other daughter now that I got a sewing machine. Dink I just burnished with spit and some jeans. I then put a coat of acrylic resolene on it. I dont know if that is the right stuff to use but when I worked in a tack shop we put that stuff on our headstalls and breast collars. Mike
  11. Here is a belt I just finished for my daughter. This is the first time I've used bling. I thought I could set them in the cowhide and then sew my liner. But when I did that they were to loose so I had to set them thru the whole belt. Which I really dont like. So for the next one I need to find different bling. I probably haven't basket stamped anything in 15 yrs and it shows. This was the first thing I sewed on my pfaff 1245 and it went okay. The presser foot was set to tight and it rubbed some of the stamping out so I went back over it. I rubbed the edges down with spit and some material from a pair of britches. It was a fun project and my daughter loved it even with the mess ups. Aint kids great. Any how to do betters is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

rawhider Nice looking work!! IMO there can never be to much braided tack shown. Thanks for sharing. Mike
  20. My pfaff 1245 wont pickup the bobbin thread. I got my thread today and started practicing sewing. It sewed great for 4 to 5 feet. I then started sewing something about half as thick and it sewed maybe 6 inches. The thing just started not picking up the bottom thread. I never heard any noise or nothing it just quit picking up the thread. I changed needles and re threaded and still nothing. When I removed the plate to watch the needle go down it looks like the hook thingy is just missing the thread. I have the owners manual thanks to Greg Gomersall but I don't see anything in there on fixing this problem or adjusting the timing. Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Mike
