  1. Thanks! Yes, I made the conchos myself.
  2. Greetings all. thought I would post my latest whip. This is the first one I have done with my concho. I was wondering how I would be able to sign my work when I make a whip, and I came up with putting my logo on a concho. So I did and I casted them. Didnt turn out too bad. I was going for an old Mexican silver look on the concho. Whatcha think?
  3. Thats great. Especially for a second project. Keep it up.
  4. What Bree, no Frags in your arsenal? Anyway, I agree with not relying on the intimidation factor. Aside from all the above mentioned, if it all comes down to it, you just gave the intruder a chance to draw down on you. But Bree is right on with anyone (not just women) who shoots, you should use the largest caliber that you can comfortably handle. You can always use specialty loads if need be. One thing I do not recommend is a 22 or 32, it wont stop anything that is on drugs or pumped up with anything, it will just piss them off. If she can handle it, a 357, or 45. 9mm is often questionable as to stopping power as well. Great to hear she will be taking training courses. Great, now that I have read all this I feel like going to the range.
  5. If anyone is interested, I have a used Foredom #30 Handpiece for sale. Its a great starter handpiece if you are interested in engraving, or just want to use it a small drill. It is used, so the surface has some minor damage (scratches mainly) . Comes with the chuck key. They have been going for around $30 used on ebay, so that is what I am asking. $5.00 shipping to the US only. Let me know if you are interested. Take care!
  6. I like those. Very nice. I would say $20 is a fair price. Especially with the conchos.
  7. Welcome! Sit back and relax.
  8. In case anyone is interested, I created a page which goes over tooling a basic leather coaster. Its geared for the new people just getting into leather. Enjoy and I would love to get some feedback on it. I am planning on creating more of these type things, and eventually video's. So whatcha think? http://www.squidoo.com/Basic-Leather-Carving
  9. Not sure if he still does it, but Bill Gomer used to offer a week long course at his place in Kansas, where he takes you step by step. I am really not even sure how to get in contact with him anymore.
  10. That's a thick holster! What's it for a howitzer? Anyway, what size thonging chisel are you looking for. I have made some extra length ones in the past for people. Let me know.
  11. Thats a really nice looking saddle. I really liked the way you transitioned from the meandering to the floral work. Great job.

    Acid Brushes

To clarify the price is for 10 or 12 brushes, not each!
  13. Great. Glad to hear it worked out. Yes I did mean the white tanners bond. As far as the mix goes, I usually eyeball it. Seems you found one that works. The rule I follow is about 4 parts edge kote to 1 part glue.

  17. You need to add some form of a finish on top the the edge kote. if you dont want another finishing process, mix your edgekote with the white tanners bond glue. this serves the purpose of toughening the edge, as well as making it water resistant. Dries within a couple minutes and is totally water proof. To give you an example, I wet form leather around flasks, this is done after all the tooling and finishing. When I soak it or spray it, I have no problem with the edge kote coming off.
