  1. The 3D printing part is easy compared to the CAD part. All the printer needs is a STL file and some factory settings to produce a part good enough for leather work.
  2. Why did you make it so thick? Why does it take hours and hours of leveling? I can level my bed in 2 minutes and it's all good.
  3. Very nice. I like the outlining with the laser.
  4. Well, from looking at the specs there are more differences than that. The 3200 will sew down to #69 thread, while the lower limit on the 4500 is #138. In addition the cylinder diameter on the 3200 is 2.5" while the 4500 has a 3.5" cylinder. Granted, these things might not matter much to the average sewer but then...they might.
  5. What RockyAussie said. A 3D printer will print a stamp much smaller than almost anyone can carve with a swivel knife and the stamps are very durable. Something like a makers mark might cost five cents to print so when your stamp wears out you just print another. I print almost exclusively with PLA these days simply because it is much less troublesome than anything else. I have abused some stamps but I can't say I ever really wore one out. One technique that I have used is to burn a pattern with a laser and then use a stamp made from the same pattern to "indent" it.
  6. Try spraying your finish on.
  7. Good for you. There is more to life than money and work.
  8. If it isn't sold yet I would be interested in buying it.
  9. I'm wondering if it isn't the covering I use on the bed that makes it easier to get my prints off hot. They are much harder to get off when they are cool. That seems like a good idea. I have a glass plate for my machine but have yet to put it on. What a wonderful old strap cutter.
  10. Thanks for your input. I'll look at the machines you mentioned.
  11. How big of a needle will your Techsew 2700 take?
  12. Hmmm, that's almost exactly what I do and rather than let the bed cool down, I preheat my prints before removing them. I have a Flashforge with the blue platform sticker and I use a super thin spatula with the end sharpened to break my prints loose.
  13. Here is a picture of the 3d printed forms I use to make a messenger bag.
  14. They don't have to do anything but space. They will last forever...well until they end up in the landfill or oceans. I can take the prints off of my bed as soon as the print is finished. What is your bed temperature setting?
  15. That's a good point. There must be a drawing file format, dxf or something that describes 2D objects so perhaps that would be better.
  16. Will the Techsew 2600 narrow cylinder machine accept a 135x17 #24 needle or will it sew 207 with the #23 needle?

  17. Here is a photo of a stamp that I just made and the impression it made. Nothing was done to the stamp after coming off the printer. It was pressed into a piece of leather that had the top surface moistened and this is how it came out of the press. I like how the pressure darkens the leather in the pattern areas. The raised parts of the stamp are 0.035" high and 0.025" high. The base of the stamp is 0.15" thick.
  18. Cobra machines aren't any different that many of the other brands made in the same factory, maybe a few things but not much. The key is price and service. Cobra has great service, Cowboy has great service; they sell the same machines at different prices. Buy the machine you want for the best price and the best service.
  19. Will your laser accept STL files?
  20. Well it looks like a good way to get started with some laser engraving. I take it that it works off of a picture?
  21. What is the end of arm diameter on the Outlaw?
  22. What kind of files will it accept? How about STL files?
  23. I didn't have to bulk anything up but if you have room it wouldn't hurt. I'm looking for a narrow arm cylinder machine. Any thoughts?
  24. I have printed presser feet and needle plates for my Campbell Randall for parts they don't make anymore. They don't last as long as steel but when they wear out I just print another.
