  1. I'm a smoker also, so what do they cost in your neck of the woods? Tony.
  2. If someone invented an engine to run on urine, the Govt. would find a way to tax it!!! Tony.
  3. I noticed someone quoted the price of fuel at app. $3.30 a gallon. Lucky you don't live here! In todays paper it is listed at $1.51.9 a litre which makes it about $6.90 a gallon, and diesel is even dearer. The Gov. get the biggest slice of this as tax and excise. Tony
  4. You wouldn't be allowed to "die" in there as it would clutter up the place!
  5. You can't be serious! It is just too clean and tidy!!! Tony.
  6. Yeah, I hang all my bridle and harness leather face to the wall. I have some boards 8 x 4 that came from a shop that closed down and there are fittings that hook in which can be moved, I just punch one hole and hang the leather on the fitting. I also use these fittings to hang all my patterns off. I store my saddle skirting and embossing in bags I made from leftover curtain material, the sort that has a sunproof white, rubber type backing. Tony.
  7. I got mine which is a terrazo slab used as hearths for heaters about 40 years ago and it was $3.00 as someone changed their mind after ordering it. Base is concrete and the top is polished granite chips and very, very smooth and solid! Tony.
  8. Great job. Just out of interest how many photos were there?Tony. And how many hours would it take you to make a vest like that?
  9. Probably herrings and smoked eel and great stuff like that! Tony.
  10. Oh, They get that from hydraulic rams don't they??? Couldn't resist it!!!
  11. While looking thru the catalogue one of my suppliers (Lefflers) I notice that they have Highlead cylinder arm Saddler Special machines and Excel flat bed machines. There are no prices but the traveller is coming on sunday so I'll ask him when he arrives. So, is anyone familiar with either of these? Tony.
  12. Yes, if it is the same as I get it really is good to use. I believe there are only 3 colours, black, brown and white and I was told it comes from Germany. Tony
  13. are Prairie dogs and Gophers the same beast? Tony.

    Schmetz needles

This is an interesting site for needle information for machines. www.schmetz.com
  15. Drac, there is a formula for this, what it is I don't know, but a friend of mine who is an engineer did some patterns for me a few years ago told me all about it but of course I forgot! I do remember he said that you need a set of trammels to do the drawings. Tony.
  16. And the same to you and yours, Regis.
  17. Hi Pete, I know this is off track but I watched our news program and saw that you are getting plenty of rain in your state. Pretty bad, eh?
  18. You're dead right there, Scouter! I've seen old can openers and wall paper cutters described as "rare or vintage" leather tools!! They say that there's one born every day. Tony.
  19. Much easier in the old days with Pearsons when the numbers were 4,5,6,7 and 8 with 1/2 sizes in between and thread was like 4 cord, 6 cord etc,eh? Tony.
  20. Art, all this talk made me go and have a look at the needle packets I have but have never taken notice of as I just tell the traveller what I want and he knows all the terms and names for the diff. types. Anyway mine are all Schmetz. One packet says Canu; 180 size 24 as well as 794 LR which is what we call Leather point or Twist and also DYX3 LR. The other pakets are 7x3 160 which we call canvas point and the others are 794S, 794 LL, 794 LR and 7X2 NTW #250. It's easy to see how confusing they are especially to someone just starting out. I just tell the traveller what I want as it's much less confusing. All of these needles work well in my Adler 205 so I guess that's all that matters! I suppose some people would read this and say what thell are they talking about!! Tony.
