  1. We're having pot roast 'roo for dinner tonight! Very Tasty. Couldn't help it, sorry! Tony.
  2. The leather with a rawhide centre used to be available here in Australia, not sure if it still is available. I've used it for girth points on riding and pacing saddles and it was very strong. Tony.
  3. The old Pearsons were "Square Feed " also. Tony.
  4. I just went to the Beekeeper a lot of years ago and bought some wax cheaply from him and then refined it to remove any impurities by heating it in a container in a pot of boiling water and then straining it through a fine strainer. I didn't think we had many bees around our house but the flyscreens in the kitchen were soon covered by hundreds of bees. I guess the aroma was very attractive to them. I poured it into the paper cake cups used in baking. Tony.

This reminds me of when a person brought a travelling case to me to repair a few years ago and was stamped in gold lettering "Genuine Imitation Leather". Tony.
  6. Thanks for the info, Harvey. I was beginning to think that there was nothing of interest to see there in Cal. I'll forward your suggestions on to her. I'm glad she wasn't going to Europe!!! Kind regards, Tony.
  7. If it is PLB thread it is probably the lubricant that is used on the thread when it is manufactured. Tony.
  8. My wife is heading off to California for a 3 week holiday and her main base will be in the San Diego area. Can anyone recommend any particular places of interest or places to go see? Tony.
  9. Almost correct. Perfect practice makes perfect! Tony.
  10. I agree with what Ryano has said. I've had this old rivet press for43 years and I have only used it for setting bifurcated rivets as in the picture. I rarely use these rivets but sometimes have to. Tony.
  11. We have 4.54 litres to the gallon here and at the moment it is $1.28 per litre. Tony.
  12. I didn't think anyone would still use black & white tv! I'm surprised you can still buy them.
  13. I can't believe that anyone needs a TV licence in this day and age! We did away with that many , many years ago along with the licence for a wireless. What does a licence cost? Tony.
  14. Are these SS or solid brass? I have replaced 100's of these type of buckles that are die cast, the bar usually breaks. SS or solid brass should be ok if you can get them. Tony.
  15. I've just been watching the news and by the look of it Climate Warming hasn't hit Washington yet! You can always send it to Vancouver for the Olympics as they need some more! Tony.
  16. So it isn't english leather strictly speaking, it is made in USA in the english style. Is it nice and firm? Tony.
  17. Ruth, where do you get 6mm bridle from and is it english leather? Tony.
  18. Here are the buckle photos, Ruth. I've bought them from Lefflers and Tophand and I prefer the finish on the SS ones from Lefflers. The Brass is english brass which is much better than the the Taiwan stuff and is dearer of course. The brass one is only 7/8" as I'm out of 1" but the inch ones cost $3.78. The SS buckles are 1" and cost 2.85. Hope this helps. Tony.
  19. I'll do that for you tomorrow as I've just knocked off and left the workshop. Tony.
  20. You can get buckles like these from Lefflers. I buy them all the time! Tony.
