  1. You can use a piece of fine Fuse Wire as I used to do years ago before I obtained the correct item to do the job. Tony.

  6. I've always used a lead block about 2 inches thick. I remelt it every couple of months in an old aluminium frying pan or when it gets too chewed up. It doesn't move and absorbs the strike real well. When one side is chewed up I just turn it over and use the other side. The lead doesn't dull the punches either. Tony.
  7. Ray, I use these if I have a lot of creasing or edging to do. Cheap (about $5.00 a pair) and easy to use!
  8. When I make threads from hemp, I always wax mine before I roll them and then with a small piece of leather folded in half between thumb and forefinger, with the thread between the leather, run it briskly up and down the thread and it heats up the wax all through in the thread and the sets pretty firm. Tony.
  9. I always skive on glass if I have a lot of it to do. It's easier to do on a nice flat, smooth surface and easier on the blade. Tony.

  13. Johanna, I have a question to ask. How do I save an image now? I just used to click on "save image" before but now I don't have that option. I'm using Firefox. Tony.
  14. I've always bought mine from the local pharmacy. I've never used it prior to doing anything with leather, only after to remove any dirty spots. Tony.
  15. Correct tools and lots of practice! Tony.
  16. Down here we measure Sole Leather in Irons. 3 Irons = 4 ounces I think. Tony.
