Some horrible home administered medicines when I was a child were Cod Liver Oil, Brewers Malt and another chunderous brew was called Scott's Emulsion. I hated showing signs of sickness when I was little, I really did!!! Tony.

It's only in recent years that it's been called soft drink here in Tasmania. We always referred to it as cordial (and still do here at home) and that term covered all the bottled soft drinks. I know elsewhere Cordial is the syrup that is mixed with water but here at home we call it water cordial. The names of Pop and Soda are never used unless you're having scotch and soda. Tony.

I attempted to use Metric when the country swapped to metric but buggered up too many jobs, so went back to good old Imperial as I can picture so many cubic feet and not so many litres! Too old to chaange now. I must say it is hard to find wooden rulers in imperial these days. Horse rugs are sold in feet and inches and so are many other items. I'm comfortable and understand imperial so I'll stay with it now. Tony.

Ray, many years ago when I went to school and attended "Wood Butchering" classes we used what was called Pearl Glue which we melted in a pot in boiling water. It had an awful odour but I think the teacher may have said it came from hides. Try Pearl Glue on Google and see what you get. Kind regards, Tony.

They are only meant to mark where your stitch will go! Tony.

I echo Bob's sentiments also. I've had one one for 10-12 years and sewn thousands of items and use from #160 to #230 needles and had no problems. I never had a servo motor until last year and that made it that little bit easier to use. Tony.

Heiser Saddle Circa 1880S-1920

One of our local trainers of pacers brought an H H Heiser saddle to me a couple of years ago for some minor repairs and a new girth and I wish I'd taken some photos of it while I had it in the workshop. They were going to use it to work a young pacer around the hills. I remember that it did have a pretty narrow gullet and a very high cantle and a wide swell to it. It was in pretty good nick for its age and I wonder how it came to make its way down here to Tasmania? Tony. -
I wouldn't bother as it is a useful tool as it is when it's sharp. I have 3 or 4 like that and they are great for skiving the ends of strapping and use them every day. Tony.

I've always used white Chinagraph pencils for black and webbing and you can rub it off with your thumb to erase it. Tony.

I don't know about Biothane but if it's anything like coated PVC webbing, I've sewn miles of it and I'm not exaggerating. I use it nearly every day and I've never, ever had to use lube, even doing repairs and often 3-4 layers thick. I use a PLB using my 205 and have no problems at all. Tony.

I've been using two Carr presses for many, many years and have never had a problem with them and they've set thousands of durables (line 24) for me. The handle goes either way. Just make sure you get good quality dies to go with them. Tony.

I think it tastes a bit like beef if it is roasted. We have it many ways and it makes good patties and is also good when corned. The flavour can depend on what sort of country it is grazing on as some bush areas can make it quite strong tasting, buttongrass, teatree etc. It is very healthy meat as it contains no cholesterol. We sometimes have one or two in our bottom paddock but plenty about a mile away. Tony.
