  1. looks like an old machine gun...show a video of it in action!
  2. best way to start and end is....forward stitch, back stitch, then forward stitch to lock everything up.
  3. I crease a line to stay parallel to the edge. Visulalization of your needle is key. I modified my walking foot pressor foot to see the needle and I use a roller foot machine as well. I use an awl to mark all the points you have on your drawing and aim for those. Hand crank when you are 1 or 2 stitches away from these points to hit the mark if you need to. Over time and practice you will get to know your machine and leather better for stitch length approximation and the machine will do all the work for you. It took quite a large number of straps to get this down and I started by making key fobs as they are just straps as well and fun to make Hope that helps
  4. just call Ron at Techsew and he will set you straight...fantastic support
  5. the more company support you have for the machine you buy the shorter and easier learning curve. Buy the Seller! I have 2 Techsew machines and could not be happier with the machines and the support. I do wish someone would have been around to teach me but the process now that I look back on it was necessary to know how to do things. The good companies will help you pick out the correct machine for you. Let us know what you do!
  6. do you mean you enlarged the slit for the belts?? that is what I had to do..
  7. Speed reducer I installed went directly in line with the machine and I just had to move the servo motor a little
  8. made watch straps, a wallet and belt for a good customer in Texas...he wants custom shoes but does not know where to turn.. anyone here??
  9. for watch straps wallet and belts I use Masters..sets up fast holds tight and sewing through it is great. you HAVE to thin it with their thinner..
  10. great so far.//would love to see more. I was afraid to do this as I thought the leather would not feed well..but my mod was fairly minimal and worked great. UWE....extreme and awesome!
  11. someone here recommended them so I went with it...best I can say is that I have not had ANY issues and they sew great...
  12. cut out the pressor foot on my Techsew 2750 pro and it worked great for edge sewing. I can see the needle like I wanted to!
  13. my servo was modified to use with a speed reducer from Techsew...it works great. It was quite a day putting it all together though but well worth it
  14. my machine is needle fed yes....I think that should work..the only way I have found to test it is to do it yourself with the materials that you use regularly. hope that helps ..
  15. try a 16 needle...I use 69 or 92 and with thinner leather it was much easier with the smaller needle. hope that helps I have also used a smaller 46 bobbin thread which makes it even easier to adjust the tension
  16. I have one on my Techsew 5580RF and it is wonderful..full control fast and slow and great torque and the needle positioner works great with the servo. I wouldn't do it any other way from now on.
  17. I got my skiver working great after watching the youtube video by Cechaflo where he adjusts the whole thing from scratch. He uses index cards and pieces of paper and it is really easy to follow. SHARP SHARP SHARP BLADE is the key also! When in doubt sharpen your blade. hope that helps
  18. great needle position motor on my Techsew machines one with a speed reducer and the 2750 pro without a speed reducer..makes life NICE and not an expensive upgrade. Call Ron at Techsew
  19. whatever you do only change one thing at a time so you know what works..thats what we do in Surgery!!
  20. that looks fantastic....If only my first works looked that good... great job look forward to seeing more
  21. Does anyone know where to get the very thin liners that you see for watch straps? I have heard it referred to as calfskin and kid leather and even moleskin... the key is that it is almost paper thin. I have a skiver but it is difficult to make something like this unless I am starting with the wrong leather. any help appreciated thanks Greg
  22. just after reading this thread..I started sewing with my roller foot machine with the speed reducer in thicker material and the belt slipped! quick slight tightening AND used some belt dressing I had from the auto parts store that I spread evenly on both belts with a small sponge...and it seems to be working better than ever! thanks everybody AGAIN!!!!!!! have a great day
  23. should it be real easy to turn manually with a speed reducer attached to a servo motor... I can move mine but it takes a bit of effort..maybe I have to loosen the belt from the motor to the reducer??? it is sewing fine
