  1. Hey Jesse, Wow, that looks like my first piece of work too. At least you got the right leather and a nice pattern going. I made up a spider from a book and went to town. I had the wrong type leather and an X-acto knife. No beveling tools or backgrounders. lol Kinda humbles me when I see it and makes me proud of the small progress I've made thus far. I am so glad you are trying and posting. Some people don't even have the courage to do that. I will try to dig up my first piece and post it...lol
  2. This is cool. Where did you get your stamp made? How much did you pay...if i may ask...
  3. Ok, this is gonna sound amature but oh well....YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Ok, I had to say it...lol Thank you for your information. I keep getting amazed by the wealth of knowledge in this sight. NICE!!!
  4. Karl, Nice work. I like ur lacing too.
  5. I asked if it was good for leather and they said that with a thicker needle it should be but I'm not sure if they're sure of it. Thought I would run it by the experts...
  6. I might have the opportunity to buy a Juki DDL-555 Industry Grade Sewing Machine. I am looking for something to make wallets and other fine leather items with. Does anyone know if this is a good deal. The machine is only $200. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e117/alexgarcia9974/IMG_1661.jpg

    Swivel Knives

Rock on people. Thank you for your info. I do have 2 knives now but was just considering the Al one since I do have the 50% coupon from Tandy. I don't really need a new one I guess but I wouldn't mind having such a purdy knife in my collection....lol Actually, I will try it out this weekend and see how it feels. My hand does tend to cramp up at times from such a narrow barrel. Tendenitus crap they say. Bah Humbug... Anyhow, Thank you for your shared info. It really does give alot to consider. I will look at blades next...just to try some new ones out.
  8. Yeah Roo, I've burnt stuff on purpose but damn. I used a blowdryer on a passenger seat once but ended up blotching it. I had to do the forbidden, black it out. Came out cool but I will not do that again. I have also used a torch on things just to give it that aged and weathered look. Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry it didn't work out but as you can see, many of us just learned a lesson....I hope I remember.
  9. Do you use it so when you are tooling to prevent warp on your leather?
  10. Just wondering. What swivel knives do we use out there. I have (1) adjustable and (1) non-adjustable Crafttool knife. I was thinking of dishing out for the Al Stohlman aka: fancy one. Any advice? http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/product...number=35049-00
