Thank Hidepunder:-)The inside is 2 pieces of a burgudy pattern (glossy_ leather and I even made some extra pockets. It's made so you can easily change the notepad when it's over and out (I guess like the bible covers?)The lacing is what I call mexican basket weave braiding. I made it 2 tone which I learned from "hides to art" newletter in september. Verry easy.Where to get the best roo lace...I have no idea, the lace I use for now is and old stock of calf lace I got my hands on from Ebay. It's thinner but way stronger than the one on the market today. I have actually dipped the natural one in some jeans blue dye to get that color and then used oil to get the "fat" back into the leather. I shall look around in my archive and see if I can find the tutorial for the brading. Thanks Crystal:-)It's just one piece with 2 "pockets" at each end...I always try to make things as easy as possible (at least in my head *S*)

hi, This one just came out of the work bench so to speak. Both sides carved and tooled. Most of the pattern is dyed, I have used some acrylic paint and at the end I did use antiquing. 2 tone mexican/round braiding all around.

Well guys...Ontop of acryllics it's easy. just some acryllic finisher with a brush (very soft one and broad...I use good quallity art brushes and Bro...I make sure the paint is dry first )I buy the Angelus Acrylic Finisher. It comes in Matt, Satin, Gloss or High gloss. It has a nice price ($12 pint and $18 quarts) and I think it works. The only thing though...If I have antiquing on I need to use Super Sheen or something from a spray bottle, this is nesecarry otherwise you will stain and smudge stuff up antiquing totally. Well, I think it;s more than OK...You did take time to make a nice braiding around. Keep going and the design and work will progress:-)

"The carving area is only about 3 inches by 6 inches and some of those little leaves are REALLY little! I'm working on the back side pattern right now. If possible, it's even more challenging than the front. I wonder if it was Tina's way of saying "keep asking for more buddy and see what you're gonna get!". Seriously though, I wish I could draw half as neat a patterns as she does" Geezzz...Sometimes it's no good hanging on the keyboard (seams like I did send an answer???) True, this pattern is small/er and the backside is actually even more wines and such. A small thing I've discovered is that when a wine crosses over another...Bevel the cross part first before beveling along the sides of the wine, this seams to work to make them more even. (hope I make sense here) I have every faith in your capabillity to carve this pattern Clay:-) I also use the pepple tools from Hide Crafter...But I use all 3 of them. My way is to use the biggest one "around" the work and in an angle to allowe it to fade out and leave untooled areas.

I Love the way you carved this one and the colors is naturally beautiful:-) I agree with Hilly, snow is a 4 letter word...Today it's nothing special but yesterday we had around 70 and bright sunshine *Yihaaaa*

Finally done with the temperamentful piece of leather *pheuw* Here's a peak at it. I have scanned the leather so all the lifting that is made don't show up...I'll try taking a better photo of it when it's all dyed and such.

Hi, my 2 cents... In my book that's a brush of and I would never chases them down, my time is to pressious IF they are interested they will be back. In my experience very few of the "I'll be back" ever comes back. Johanna, you're much nicer than I am, I actually don't start without having it all paid for including the shipping, then...Most of my stuff (names and such) is so personal so it's impossible to sell to someone else.
