  1. See for sale section under berry king tools. Owner is splitting up for offers right now. Good luck.
  2. If that's just a pocket for the camera case, you made need to name the case "Hercules". Looks really great.
  3. Easiest thing to do would be to reverse engineer it. Those awp pouches are cheap. Just get one and take it apart. This will give you a pretty decent template. Just allow a little more space around them for stitching. Leather isn't as flexible as nylon. Good luck.
  4. Welcome to the forum.
  5. I like it. Keep on keeping on.
  6. I would contact them. Seems they had a problem and want to fix it (you may not even have to send the old ones back). When I knew nothing at all the cheap Tandy edgers still cut.

    Those look pretty great.
  8. I saw that hook the other day somewhere. Maybe Springfield leather?
  9. The other night I was browsing Fiebing's site for some color options. There was no chart for the pro oil dyes. I was perplexed. Was it being discontinued? Oh No Oh No!!!! Well after I caught my breath I emailed them and this was their reply. (Referring to my question about pro oil dye being the same thing as pro dye) Thank you for your inquiry. It is the same product as always, just a new name. It is a solvent based dye, always has been, so we wanted to reduce confusion by changing the name. The oil refers to the oils in the dyes and colorants that create the colors but the base of the dye is a solvent like standard leather dye. These dyes tend to be more vibrant in color and more colorfast and resistant to fading. Sincerely, Fiebing Company, Inc. Tel: 414-271-5011 Fax: 414-271-3769 www.fiebing.com
  10. How cool is that? Two leather smiths at the same table.
  11. Most times people will leave extra material on the holster. Mark a line for finished edge, line for stitches, and a line for tooling. Then do tooling, glue and stitch. Then trim off the edge, and sand and burnish. If you have to go in the order you mention, the rubber cement should work.
  12. Can somebody clue me in on exactly what oilies are? What are they used for? What's the tanning method? Available in full grain, top grain, or both? Temper? Is it the same stuff as oil tanned leather? And if it is, I still need the above questions answered. Thanks, you guys float my boat.
  13. I needs one of them creaser thingys, or that bag of bacon stuff.
  14. Redo the strap out of the same stuff as on the neck piece? Then dye it all at once.
  15. Well, Lance, you're going to have some mistakes. That's just part of it. My number 1 suggestion to anyone is take a few scraps along the way through the entire project. Watch straps aren't going to be using much material to begin with. So, cut yourself 2 of everything. They don't have to be the same shape, just something to try out every step along the way. If they are the same make sure to mark the testers. Chrome tan/multi tan is not going to be easy to burnish. I can only say each piece or side is going to take a little different technique. The chrome tanned and unidentified leathers I have played with just haven't done too well. This is the best chrome tanned burnish I have achieved. It looks a little better in person, but not like a piece of veg tan. I haven't played with the exotics but I imagine most of them will be chrome tanned. And on another note, even the best veg tan is difficult to burnish when it is so thin as a watch band. I suggest edge coating these bands if yours and saving yourself some headaches. But, I have only just recently delved into edge coating, so I have little to offer. Tandy has a lot of their fenice edge dressing on clearance right now. I bought three colors in 32 oz. Bottles for 8 bucks a piece. Good luck.
  16. Man..... You gotta send that to somebody? Is it for a book covering/binder?
  17. Absolutely, that's why I am on this site. Every day I'm on planet earth is a chance to learn something new. I learn something from everyone, even what not to do.
  18. I agree with all of this except the part about sentence diagramming. Ask a 10 year old what an adverb is. Diagramming should be taught.
  19. I would be interested in your shoe tutorial. The boots look awesome.
  20. So I have been thinking about this some more and here is what I think. While I still believe it should be taught in person, I have an alternative idea for weeding out the yahoos from the program. Start with requiring them to take two preliminary courses. 1st course is "How to properly measure a person for the saddle". 2nd course is "How to properly measure a horse for the saddle". These I imagine would need to cover several lessons to ensure proper and safe fitting. Make them expensive. Do this, and you may find some people who are really wanting to invest their time and money into learning. If they aren't willing to take and pass the preliminary courses, then they don't really want to learn. Just a thought.
