  1. She isn't lying. It could easily take two hours of labor to cut, shape, and smooth that piece. Add in your tooling, insurance, and other overhead and 50 bucks is pretty reasonable. Not to mention the material probably cost them 10 bucks a foot. Even though it's waste, it still cost them in the beginning. Just for information's sake. Most people don't realize how much work is involved with smoothing out the cuts. When you cut a piece out the edges are rough. Then you have to round off the corners with a grinder. Run some stone wheels of different grits to flatten the cuts (the blade will drift sometimes) and smooth off the rough edges. Then you run thru at least 6 different polishing pads. Basically, anytime you fabricate or install granite, every bit of it sucks. It is dirty nasty work. The only part that doesn't suck is walking away with a satisfied customer. That's it, nothing else.
  2. Man, that looks great to me. Good job.
  3. Larry is still over there @ 220 for now. He gave up the Tandy license about 4 years ago. And he is getting ready to retire. One thing he does real good on is he always has plenty of dye colors to choose from. We should get together and visit sometime. I live just up the street from the Tandy store. I would love someone to talk shop with.
  4. You could line your belt and holster making 12-14 oz. That will be a little on the thick side, but should be ok. Especially if you are going for the bold foot forward cosplaying look.
  5. That is really grand. Great job.
  6. I can be nothing but blessed. Thanks, guys.
  7. @nstarleather has a bunch, cheap. I think he was doing 2 dollars (don't quote me on that) a piece with a 10 piece minimum. Of course, he is stateside, but will ship on your dime. He was also looking into more and more color options.
  8. That is a very nice sheath. Way to go.
  9. Sheila, it looks really good even with the little smudgy area. Watch this video I saw the other day. Don shows an easy method for two toning dye.
  10. That is really sharp looking, wedge.
  11. @RockyAussie, thanks. Good luck with the sale.
  12. Can I ask a question? I have never seen one of these. Now I have seen two in the last 3 days here.... Where would you put this to use? What is the application? Sorry, I'm just the curious type.
  13. I saw a Don Gonzales video this morning and he mentions this. Of course he was talking about a man's belt. He said if you always keep the buckle to your left on the table, you will never tool it upside down. I guess you would reverse that for a lady's belt.
  14. And it all started with a little table in a corner.
  15. .7mm isn't even a 32nd of an inch. That is really really thin. I have gotten from 4-5 oz down to 1¼ ounce with a Weaver heritage splitter. I don't imagine any machine is going to get that precise and small.
  16. I think so? You may just try it on scrap first. Always try anything new on a piece of scrap.
  17. No problem. You can find it in paint departments. I have also mixed water with fiebings with no noticeable problems.
  18. I just recently discovered Don Gonzales. He makes some great videos. I think he is on this forum?
  19. I have thought about those too. Thanks.
  20. Thanks, Y.
  21. Thanks for all the links. I'm pretty set on the tool end less the good swivel knife.
