  1. This seat is finally finished....these big seat take a lot more time than the smaller solo seats. I've shown a "regular" SPS seat next to it for scale. I never cared for the proportions of the bigger seat, but this one looks ok to me. Critiques, and comments always welcome. Before someone asks, Bandidos is spelled correctly...lol David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com
  2. Tazz, I rarely see a bag so well constructed that I think....you could have left the tooling off of that one.... but you could have.... the bag really didn't need it. That is as professional a job as I've seen. Dave Theobald http://theobaldleather.com
  3. leatheroo, I like the design a lot. Very interesting celtic wings real nice touch there. I've never seen flames and celtic combined any better than that. I would probably have called it Phoenix rising instead of diving eagle....but you would have to turn it upside down...... Good job, David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com
  4. I do all my tooling patterns in CAD....I've been known to use a bit of Illustrator and Photoshop as well but it works great for doing variations on a design. Dave
  5. Geeze, I'm at a loss for words......I'm never at a loss for words. I'll be waiting to see that one. Dave
  6. Shirley and Larry, Thanks for the great comments. I'm sure you'll come up with something Shirley....you always do. Visit my site for other seats. Dave Theobald http://theobaldleather.com
  7. Johann, The engine in the bike on the lift is a 100 inch RevTech. It should push this little bobber pretty fast. This is my son's second build. Here is his first...the engine in this one is a stock shovelhead from 1978. He rebuild the engine while he attended American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona, Florida and finished the build while he worked for Sucker Punch Sallys. David Theobald
  8. Thanks for the feedback on this seat. The good new about it is that it isn't sold. I'll be giving it away. It is going to be going on my son's latest bike/bobber that he is building currently. So it will be staying in the family. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com
  9. Hey Pauly, Well it is a combination of books and noggin. When someone wants a skulls, skeleton etc. I get out my figure drawing book that I used as a student in industrial design. It has all the bones, muscles etc and how to draw them in varying positions. It is an ancient book.....I'm 40 years out of college! The scroll work, described by someone else as a thistle design is right from a computer site..... The typeface, I'll take the blame/credit for that. It is similar to a few I've seen but not an exact copy. Thanks for taking a look at it. check out my site for more. There should be a few new ones apprearing there soon. And keep checking this thread as I post pics of this seat as it progresses. http://theobaldleather.com
  10. hey Freak, Yes, 1/4" kangaroo lace on the outside. The decorative lace is 1/8" calf skin, It doesn't have to be pulled too tight. my rivits are garden variety aluminum pop rivits from my local hardware store my seat pans are by West Eagle.... I used to tell folks to get them from Custom Chrome.... but I there is a problem with them right now.....so I'm not sure where to tell you to go..... try Fabricator Kevin.....he may have them back in stock now. Dave
  11. Thanks Shirley....I hope the tooling of those thistles turns out ok....they are pretty difficult to cut.David Theobald This fellow doesn't live in Ohio as far as I know. I believe he is a West Coast biker. But the Bandidos are everywhere. USA and about a dozen other countries as well.David Theobald
  12. Good question, I've been asked several times....on a motorcycle seat, I pull the lacing VERY VERY tight....the slits would tear right out....Holes never tear. David Theobald
  13. Tom, I don't have a pic of the exact bike that it is going on, but it is a green and black version of this bike. David Theobald http://www.theobaldleather.com
  14. Yup special order indeed. Dave
  15. Hey Tom,It's going on a Sucker Punch.Dave
  16. I did a seat on this seat pan a few months ago and called it big and ugly.....I still don't care for the proportions of the seat....it is just too wide for it's length. But it is what the customer ordered. David Theobald www.theobaldleather.com
  17. Hey guy, Great tooling on the seat. You've done a great job on it. Way to work under pressure too. Gotta love those deadlines. David Theobald

  23. It looks great Shirley, are you going to use Neat Lac when you are finished to protect the paint and the antique? I think it is great to make this sort of contribution to our young folks who have given so much for us. Dave
