  1. Until now I used to tie a knot, snip the thread and then burn it with a lighter. It left a small pile of $#(@. Thanks for asking the question Tom and thanks for everyone answering. This way is so much neater. Butch
  2. Thanks Kathy. Point taken and I think you're spot on. Thanks for the idea. Butch
  3. Thanks for all of the comments. I'm happy with most of it, but then again I guess we're our worst critic. I'm not too sure that I'd use the leather I used for the chap again, but it was scrap leather that I had. Thanks again Art for the additional instructions. Butch
  4. First and foremost I want to thank ArtS for his Chap Purse article in LCSJ. I made this one for my sister for Christmas and I hope she'll like it. I definitely need to work on fringe. Thanks again Art. Butch

Very nice work Tom. I want to start more braiding myself, but for right now leather projects seem endless with Christmas coming up. Keep showing us more. Butch
  6. Hi Rick, I can't say they are the best, because I'm sure there are a lot better ones out there, but Tandy has Craftool Edge Bevelers and Crafttool Keen Edge Bevelers. I don't like the Craftool Edge Bevelers because they seem to put more of a straight cut edge on. The Crafttool Keen Edge Bevelers put more of a rounded edge. Here's the link: Edgers Take care, Butch
  7. Very nice. You have way too much talent. Do you want to share some of it? Sharing the photos have definitely helped. Thanks, Butch
  8. Thanks Todd. Be sure to post it. I'll keep checking back to see it. Thanks, Butch
  9. Thanks Russ. I think I was in the middle of my previous response when you responded. It looks like it could get kind of spendy if you make some mistakes, but like you said the experience was probably well worth it. Thanks, Butch
  10. Thanks Casey and Art for the information. There is a Saddlemaker that lives down the road from me, but I don't personally know him. Although I would like to ask him if I could see how he goes about making saddles and hopefully he wouldn't mind. I would personally like to build a wade saddle someday, but as I mentioned earlier I'm not sure I'm ready to even start yet. Unfortunately there isn't a saddlemaking school near here that I know of. So just reading about it in the books might be more appropriate for me right now. Thanks again
  11. I got a bit ahead and made this rifle sling for my son for Christmas. The color, saddle tan, is close to the color of his rifle stock. This is the first time I've done anything with hair on hide. It also has a cartridge case that will hold 10 .270 cartridges, and I think I may even buy him some cartridges that have bullets. The cartridge case is removable so he can wear it on his belt also. Thanks for looking. Butch
  12. This link might help you for what you need. It was created by Myriam. Click here
  13. Hi Hidepounder. Is that a picture of you Heading and is it in Mormon Lake? I was raised in Williams, Az and lived in the Phoenix and Glendale area for awhile. Your work is absolutely awesome.

  14. Thanks Johanna. I just sent them an email.
  15. Here's an article and video from Western Horseman. Go to the bottom of the page and look for the "Into the Night" article Butch
  16. Great job on your site. I just noticed one thing while checking out your site. In the guitar strap section you got "Click on each wallet to view more detailed images" Looks like the ol' copy paste thing. Nice website Butch
  17. Welcome to the site. It's definately a place to learn from some very talented people. My wife and I own property in Cross Cut and my brother lives in Blanket. We're just waiting for this economy to come back around so we can sell our house and then we'll be heading to Cross Cut. Butch
  18. I got this little toy holster pattern from the latest Tandy Skiver so I thought I'd make it for the little guy as well.
  19. Such talented people. You're right up there at the top Darryl. Very nice work. Butch
  20. That was really outstanding Barra. Thanks Butch
  21. Unfortunately he's not wearing it yet, because he's still in the hospital recovering from his heart surgery. It shouldn't be too much longer though. Butch
  22. My stick horse wasn't as nice either. If I recall, and I'm dating myself, mine had a wooden head.
  23. I had no idea what a Fanner 50 was until I looked it up. I wouldn't have minded one myself as a young one.
  24. I just made this 1' belt for a little guy who has had heart problems since he was born. I've never met him but Gaizka is 4 years old and because of his heart problems I've heard that he is the size of a two year old. The lady that wanted me to make the belt for him said he wants to be a cowboy when he grows up. He recently had heart surgery and is currently in the hospital recovering and should be back home in a couple of weeks.
