  1. Great start David, I was wondering since this obviously takes you a while do you let the leather dry out between tooling sessions or do you bag it or something.
  2. Thats a cool project. Very cool car also.
  3. I second Kevin at springfeild. Also think herman oak leather is great for holsters,
  4. Good looking stuff. Did you use a resist or dye around the crosses, pretty cool effect.
  5. Very nicely done, great pics also.
  6. Very cool, looks like itll hold all kinds of stuff and most of all the stuff you need to carry. Great colors also.
  7. Great looking stuff. Looks like another awesome hobby to get into building bows.
  8. Tough call as you can guess alot of variables. This kind of topic has been discussed extensively on this forum under variouse sections I think mainly in marketing or something like that. Obviously if you wanna make sure you atleast make money you need to take the price of all your stuff that you put into it, seat pan, leather, thread/lace, dye, sealer, oil....... then find out honestly how long it takes you to make it and try to figure out how much you wanna make an hour doing it. Plus if you will be regulated by where you sell it depending on what poeple think they should pay, by how good of work you do, if you have a established name for yourself, is it custom work, so on and so forth. That being said I have scene prices ranging from complete crap at $50 on ebay on up to several hundred dollars and more.
  9. That turned out really good. Nicely done.
  10. I agree way cool and excellent work. Love the all natural look to it.
  11. Great looking belt, gotta love black and red.
  12. Lol of they would of tried a round braid to tie everything together. Pretty neat project to say the least.
  13. One thing some of ya should try is sno-seal. It has worked for me very well. Doing several thin coats with some heat to help the leather absorb it works great. Granted its not a perfect seal but it works probably on par with bee natural or picards. One thing I like about using the above mentioned items is that you can reaply them when necessary and not have to try and strip anything.
  14. Thanks for the offer Lobo, I should be able to round some up here locally though. Appreciate it though and the compliments.
  15. Very good looking sheaths. Love that first one, really looks killer. Excellent wet molding as well.
  16. Nicely done, they all look great.Did you have a belt loop on the back or a clip?
  17. Yep inside or outside the waste band. Thanks everyone for the compliments. As far as the stitching its hard to see in the pics. I ran over it a bunch with the overstitch wheel to kind of get it looking decent. It was a bear while I was doing it but itll work.
  18. Good call Ill have to go look again. First I tried the 8-32 with those hex head type but as you stated they wouldnt fit. I got some of the 6-32 tnuts but they didnt have the same type of screws so Im probably gonna hit up ace or something. Hopefully that will do the trick then I can actually put this thing thru some trials and usage.
  19. Well allmost finished my IWB for my taurus. I have done one other holster that was a OWB and this is my second attempt at this one. I need to find some screws that will work with the tnuts that I picked up that will fit inside of the snaps I have. Gotta try a couple of other shops around here before I look to ordering online. Once I find them Ill finish it. Just wanted to throw it up for critique on design and whatever else you all can suggest. The stitching didnt come out great as I had a hell of a time getting the awl thru this leather for some reason, think it had some rawhide or the tanning burned the inside or something. It was the hardest leather Ive ever tried stabbing. Pulled one awl out of its haft on this guy. Anyways the holster is all 8oz died dark brown, oiled, then finished with sno-seal.
  20. Love the design and the color. Really looks good man.
  21. I gotta try this out. I know lexol on its own will darken the leather a bit and I would assume the oils and conditioners would help with burnishing so sounds about right. Also the little bit of oil and conditioner will probably act as a lubricant for the knife while carving or atleast I would assume it does which would allow for easier cutting and longer blade life. Ofcourse this is just my guess on why it would work like it does.
  22. I have one of the regular stainless al stohlman knives and rarely use it any more if at all. It wont hold a edge for more then a few cuts. My rose knife and dan carlos knife are what I primarily use. Now that new damascus steel one they are selling I am not sure about. I looked up the steel they say they are using for it and seems to be a big hit in kitchen knives but not sure if it is any good or not. I probably wont spend the money to find out. They look nice though.
  23. Looks pretty good. There is only one thing that kind of sticks out to me and that is the corners on the clip cover. I would recommend rounding those so it flows with the rest of the setup. Just a little thing though, over all not bad.
  24. Nope thats the antque that I used. I used just enough to fill in the knife cuts and do thinnly around the borders. Thanks.
  25. Thanks for the compliments guys, mucho appreciated.
