  1. I was looking at them the other day and was suprised to see the Hidecrafter PA003 background tool went for $41.00 from this same seller, I see he has listed another one of the border tools..... Guess I should check my tool cabinet ...... - Deb
  2. I would also be interested in a Dr. Bag Pattern. Thanks Deb
  3. I am having problems downloading too.
  4. That is a beautiful case - The owner will be proud to carry it!! - Deb
  5. I really like it!!! What brand of dye did you use? Thanks Deb
  6. Have never tried it, but I would think you could grey down the black by mixing some white dye with it until you get the shade you want and try it on some scrap leather. You would have to keep track of the amounts of each used to get the effect you want (maybe using an eye dropper) and mix enough to cover the area you are wanting. Hope you will post a picture when you get it done - Good Luck Deb
  7. I checked my files, I don't have the revival hand bag pattern, the one I was thinking of is the Sierra. It is a similar shape and size of bag, but the tooling pattern is nothing like what you have pictured. The copier Idea works pretty well. I have used that method a time or two. Good Luck - Deb
  8. Let me check in my files, I bought a bunch of purse patterns from an estate sale and I think I may have one. I will check tonight and get back to you on it. Thanks Deb
  9. Thanks for the bifocal info. I took a class from Jesse in Ft. Worth. I learned a lot in just that class. A whole week would be GREAT!! Glad you enjoyed it. Deb
  10. I think that pebble tool is a Pro Crafter Tool. I saw on another post that sdtradingco.com carried Pro Crafter tools, they might still have one on their site. You might also try Leathersmith Supply in Overland Park, KS. 913-901-0105. Last time I was in there they had a few Pro Crafters in stock. Hope this helps. Deb
  11. You have done a nice job on your halter and nosebands. Keep up the good work - Deb
  12. I did not know what the story was behind the different colors on the ProCrafters. I have not ever used the Crown tools. I have seen an ad in the Leather Crafter and Saddlers journal as well as on here for a Gomph Hackbarth set at a good price. I have never used them either but one of the members of our guild has a couple and likes them. After using the ProCrafter Bevelers, If I pick up a Craftool beveler I have a hard time using it. It's kind of like building something with a square nail instead of a round one LOL I am also a "tool collector" I have anything from Old Craftool to New Craftool, Pro Crafter & Barry King. Have fun with your tool shopping - Deb
  13. I second that - I just got mine in the mail today from Brenda. I ordered it on Monday - Talk about quick service!!! I will get a picture posted as well. Thanks Brenda!!!
  14. Try a little cream rinse hair conditioner. It helps in a pinch. It may not get all of it off, but it works fairly well in a pinch.
  15. I have 4 checkered bevelers, a basket weave and a couple of pebble backgrounds that are procrafters. I purchased mine from Hide Crafter a number of years ago. If I remember correctly these tools were specifically made for Hide Crafter Leather (The original Hidecrafters) to be a better quality tool at a mid range price. They were designed by a number of tool makeres, including Robert Beard, Jay Gore, Ellis Barnes and Barry King. There may have been a few others I am not sure. The ones I have used have better angles and details than the basic tools. They are kind of a step in between. I like the ones I have. Hope this helps - Deb
  16. I agree...Sometimes a little case of "athletes scalp" is what it takes to get their attention and let them know that you are the customer paying for a piece of equipment (and their salary) and you expect a good quality tool, some customer courtesy and service along with that. It's their job!! -
  17. Welcome! You have found a great place for information. Where are you Located? There may be a Tandy Leather or another Independent Leather supply store near you. There are also Leather Guilds in almost every state with members willing to help you out. There may be a Leatherworker.net member close as well. There are also a number of good books on beginning Leatherwork by Al Stohlman. Let us know and we can help get you on your way. Deb
  18. I have been thinking about getting one of the techlights, but I have rogressive bifocals. Does anyone using the techlights have bifocals? If so do you have any problems with them? Thanks Deb
  19. Adam - Check out a local glass company. I told the guy what size I wanted and what I was using it for. He had a thick piece in the scraps that he cut and polished the edges of. I asked him how much and he just gave it to me. It does not have a wooden handle on it, but is smooth all the way around so I can't get cut and it works great! Thanks Deb
  20. I had not thought about the vet wrap under the shrink tubing, That is a great solution!
  21. How about the heat shrinkies that can be used to connect 2 wires together. Should be able to find them at Home Depot in various sizes. Slide it on and shrink it down. Just a thought - Deb
  22. Thanks Karl - The next time there is a class around, maybe we can do some ride sharing and make a short trip more affordable. Also keep in mind Bill Gomer lives not too far away from you. He is in Highland Kansas now. If our guild in Topeka decides to host any classes again I will be sure to let you know. - Thanks Deb
  23. We had a dog get sprayed so directly in the face that you could see the fumes rising off of her. Skunk Off Shampoo is the best stuff. But we were out of that, and tomatoe juice, sauce etc did not do anything. We called the vets around looking for the shampoo, none of them had it, but one gave me a recipe works well. Soap the dog up with Dawn Dish Soap, Sprinkle baking soda on and spread around in the soap. Pour White Vinigar over the suds & soda. The reaction of the Soda and Vinigar cut the smell, the soap keeps it in place. Suds the dog up good and rinse with water. Can re-treat if needed, then shampoo. :}
  24. Hey Karl - Looks just like you had taken the class !!!! Great Job - Deb
  25. resqman - Nice Job!!! It is great to hang out with Jim and watch him work. I was having problems with eyes. He did just like you said, cut out an eye on a scrap piece of leather and proceeded to show me what to do. Your buffalo turned out great. Keep up the good work! Deb
