  1. That's just flat-out awesome. I'm gonna go look at it again!
  2. Thanks for the kind words, everybody. Jason...welcome to the forum! You'll love it here. SkipJ...I do make the keepers. The grooves are done with a #5 creaser, and they're hand-sewn. I prefer to hand-sew them versus using a heavy staple. You don't see either one, but as a maker I know it's there. It's a quirk I've got, I reckon. Anyway, staples corrode, so I take 5-minutes to hand-stitch. Russ...All the gunbelts I make are dual-layer, Hermann Oak, bonded & stitched. I don't use any additional reinforcement, at this point anyway. Several of the big-name makers offer that option. If you'd like to see some fine holsters & belts, wander over to www.thebeltman.net, or www.tuckergunleather.com.
  3. He sure does some fine work. I'm gonna go bang my head against a wall.
  4. This one is a dual-layer (doubled) 1-1/4" wide concealed carry/off-duty gunbelt with a polished brass Weaver buckle and fancier-than-usual Chicago screws. Seven hole, spaced 3/4" apart. Hermann Oak for the leather, Artisan for the Toro 4000-P monster stitcher.
  5. Welcome, George! I learn from everybody, so the more the merrier! You'll enjoy it here. I'd bet on it.
  6. Beautiful! I hate to admit it, but I thought the same thing SCOUTER did...what bike are they for. They're gonna come revoke my cowboy license any day now. :deadhorse:
  7. Nice job! I like innovative new ideas, and new takes on things. Well done.
  8. My rep at Artisan is Steve--no shot at Dave, but I say that to make a point. I've already admitted my Artisan bias, but wanted to make an additional comment before I shut up. And again, I don't work for Artisan. What's been discussed here, and what you see as far as customer concern, and customer service, is NORMAL for these folks. I have first-hand experience with them, and this is how they do business. They really do take care of their customers, and they really do stay on top of things. If you're in the market, or ever will be, the only leather machines I wholeheartedly recommend can be found at www.ArtisanSew.com.
  9. There are no stupid questions. The rough side is the flesh side, the smooooooth side is the grain side.
  10. Those won't be around long! Great job with the metallics!
  11. This is a great post--ain't it great that you can mention Artisan and get a reply from someone who actually works there? To me, that's not only a terrific vote of confidence in Artisan, but also a fantastic benefit of this wonderful forum. I'm also a huge fan of Artisan, their machines, and all the folks there, so please take anything I say with a huge grain of salt. I'm biased, without a doubt.
  12. Beautiful job, Heather! And an excellent idea.
  13. Thanks, everybody! Very much obliged for the kind words. Problem with these birthdays is the dang things seem to come around faster every year.
  14. Congratulations! And now the agonizing wait. You made the right choice.
  15. Talk to Jerry or Steve--the website is www.artisansew.com
  16. I'd agree with what Go2Tex said. And get started--jump in and start. If you mess something up--and you will--just do it again. And, again. The best way to learn, in my opinion, is to cut some leather and start putting something together. That's one of the coolest things about leather--if you mess something up, there's always a "do over." I mess up on a pretty regular basis. I cuss a little (well, a lot) and get right back to it. I don't expect that'll ever change.
