Highlights from the Last 4 Years
OLDNSLOW replied to Frank's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I was going to ask about the coin holder in the first photo as well, all of your work is top shelf for sure and would like to see more of your items for sure. Its nice to have recognition for work well done either from major or minor publications, they can be a real shot in the arm for any business after the pubs hit the street good job! -

Hammer, Maul, Rock? What do you use and how heavy?
OLDNSLOW replied to Killerwork's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Ya for many years till I went into management I made a living with my tools, the Snap On, Matco, Mac, type tools and boy oh boy did my wife hate the name Snap On, but ya know what all those tools were a write off at the end of the years because with out them it would have been kind of hard to run the wrack on a Cummins engine. Along with the fact that the O E M's would use a knew type of screw head every year, to try and keep drivers from tearing shite up, so we always ( us wrenchers ) had to buy new stuff, see above about write offs. But in the end they more than paid for themselves, but so is life then I went into management. And of course then instead of fancy Snap On tools, I had to buy nice slacks and shirts to do that job sheesh talk about trying to make a nice leather item out of some old wrinkled skin. -

I have 3 mauls I think it is with out running out there to count, and 1 very small mallet, 2 of them I think came from Barry's, 1 is a no name that was probably came from china. And I did pay for them all, but if I did have access to machines I probably would make a few to see how they would come out, but I don't so I buy. -

well shucks where are you located and what are your prices for dies if I may ask? Thanks for your response -
Like the others have said that is a lot of over kill for a sewing table, I have only passed through Reno, well over night stays years ago and Winter can be brutal and summer is the desert heat. The table is going to swing both ways with the ambient heat, stay with wood, a nice oak plywood stained looks real nice.

Outsourcing cutting out leather pieces for large project
OLDNSLOW replied to bennadatto's topic in How Do I Do That?
what mike above recommended would be best, but realistically that isn't a lot that needs to be done. Just get yourself a good utility knife a box of razor blades and geter done. Not trying to be sarcastic and You will have to forgive me I cant think the name of the website but if you google 3d printing sources and contact some of those vendors they might be able to lead you t someone with a laser that can do it for you. -
True Jeff, it might take the next level of lasers that can detect the need to raise or lower the bed automatically with out the need for manual manipulation. It works for me the way it is now, it does offer a next level of ability that I didn't have previously and only time will tell if it has any value to the customer. Thanks Josh for the kind words, my goal was two fold, one just being able to offer it and of course getting people to want and buy more.

Uwe's table top for 441 machines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OLDNSLOW replied to OLDNSLOW's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I spoke with Uwe a few weeks back prior to buying the table top, and he was expressing his ideas of continuing to make parts that would allow the use of the bigger 441 clone machines to work as smaller machines as well. the idea behind that is to avoid the need for multiple machines for different projects where the one machine would be able to perform well at all levels. I think that would be great idea and hope that he continues with his R & D to accomplish that goal and wish him much success, I also think that the MFG's should contact him to inquire about using his table top!! -
Has got to be the cat's bark, the table top is over the top, if you don't have one for you 441 clone then buy one. Don't bother with the one that cowboy or leather machine sell, get one of Uwe's table top and you wont need anything else. Uwe's table top is built extremely well is easy to install, everything about it is top notch, and I get no kick back for these comments.

some people would disagree about using bellies for belts, just saying, so search all the youtube videos you can about using bellies then decide for yourself.
-
a little to cramped for me I like my stuff spread out so I don't know where it is, that way I can always be guessing!!
-
what is the weight? I didn't see it or I missed it.

give it some time for a response from one of three people concerning this, however you didn't mention make and model of the machine that might help when looking for the answer. But look for Wizcraft, Uwe, or maybe even Cowboy bob to answer your question, or post another new posting with your video and direct the question to one of the 3. good luck!
