  1. I have had the same issue with the Cobra 4 and the guys over in Cali seemed to think it was the shuttle hook, I removed the hook and checked for burrs. There was a slight if at all depending on who would be checking the slightest of burrs, so I polished it and put it back, the problem seemed to go away for a little while and came back. Now on mine it seemed to change depending on the size and type of thread that was being run. So if there is a little sewing fairy floating around I wish the little Plick would show up and fix them all, another course of action would be to form a committee that I can head up and Wizz could be apart of and everybody else pitch in for the tickets for the committee members to fly to china, heck we probably realistically only need to go to one MFG and voice all the problems to them we could get the machines fixed lickety split! What Y'all think about that!!!
  2. what are these Ron's edge bevel tools that you speak of?
  3. I have never used a Dillon, it is on my bucket list of things to do! But like you mentioned I understand there is nothing even close as hard as the others try.
  4. Well then if you want to leave the table I help move and keep err a move the reloading device under the cover there. What model is that it has been one of my dream machine bucket thingies, I had the red made model with a few bells but none of the whistles and sold it thinking I would never pull another handle, boy was I wrong, I finished 1000 9mm just before that holidays and still about 1500 casings laying around, they keep calling out to me when I walk by, but I just keep ignoring them.
  5. Garypl, if that reloading bench ever gets in your way I'll drive over and take it your hands, and I'll even do it for free!!!!
  6. I'll be honest here I didn't read everything, but don't we sell the SIZZLE AND NOT the STEAK? hand sewn, machine sewn, but feel the SUPPLENESS of that rich leather? Or am I wrong good night.
  7. Petewon, I am interested in knowing what type of cutting tool that is, thanks
  8. I sure hope that is veg tanned suede that you used for lining? Nice rig not sure where you ride, but sure hope there gun friendly!
  9. You do some very nice work it something to aspire to! It is something I feel I really suck at so I don't do much of it, I think I need to go back and retry, but yours is excellent!
  10. well if it is anything like Taos, then I can understand my Primos always have something to keep them busy. If your just watching utube and some books I must be watching the wrong videos, your work is excellent keep it up!
  11. nice job!!! I just finished one up not long ago but no where near as nice as that! at looking at your location taint much to do out them parts cept maybe head on down Juarez Just kidding. But there is a lot of open space down there, if it come natural your darn good at it, and if some book learning and do it yer self then good on you. I got me some kin not to far but not to close either if they were closer Like to come buy for a lesson er 2.
  12. In the summer is the best time to make roon, the heat helps to speed up the process, I had made up a couple of gallons a few years but became hesitant to use it. If it is not neutralized properly it will destroy the leather when you least expect it to.
  13. All of the providers of leather have been beat up on here on the site, if not for price, then for description, shipping costs, you name it. the people over at SLC are decent to work with, it is a busy location, picture a Tandy Store but with a whole lot more in it. And they have walk in customers as well as all the phone calls that come in all day long, if you do call and that is what they are there for ASK for KEVIN, you always see his photo and I think the other is Randy, they are more than willing to help out.
  14. My experience with them is much like bikermutt, I have ordered twice if I recall correctly both times it was done by phone for some scraps of exotic leather. They were willing to take the time to explain things to me and prompt at getting it out, all for a 50.00 order! They might just be going through growing pains and getting everything organized just a thought, give them a call you never know what can happen!
  15. A big Thanks for the point about the rolling eyes, I did not know that so if I have used it forgive my ignorance about it's us, and nice job on the customized tool that looks great!!
  16. Bikermutt , I am not sure that the answer you got satisfied your curiosity, but the best way to settle that is visual from what comes with the machine and what comes from Uwe. It is like night and day between the two items, I have not bought one yet but it and the in line pressure foot that Uwe makes or on my list of things to buy this year. Uwe's workmanship are top notch in comparison to what comes stock and I keep going back and forth what I want or need to buy first from him, and he has other items in the planning stages I hope, that will take the 441 clones and open it up for more capabilities than what it has now.
  17. neither have I so please clue us all in on staking. Seabee, here are a few pointers that can very depending on the maker, 10oz leather is about the heaviest you would want to go on a holster, it would be good and heavy weighted but little to no definition in the leather, 8/9 oz leather still a very heavy weight holster with a little better definition, 7/8 oz a good range of weight and can get very good definition out of the leather. there might be some guys who will use 5/6 but I don't know of anyone off hand but I am sure someone will chime in. After I bought a few different store bought holsters I felt for what I was paying for I could do better. and I started reading everything I could get my hands on and started to build my tools collection for what I thought I would need to build a decent holster. With the computer age now reaching young adulthood it is not someone is reinventing the wheel, there are patterns, advice all at the tip of one's finger tips, and this website has a ton of people that will offer help and some great advice all free for the asking. You will see all levels of work here and with a little thick skin you can put something on the board and have it picked apart all with the intent of making you a better leather worker, good luck and look forward to seeing some of your stuff. and oh how I miss some good Tacos from old town down there.
  18. as I mentioned I kind of forgot about the whole thing I needed it for a project I wrapped up about a week and a half ago, so no real rush now if you want it Bikermutt go for it. I guess I should go back and mark the other posting closed er something I guess.
  19. What I didn't mention is the reason that the old guy that is sticky about the way the brushes he makes are use is that, anything over 5 to 6 hundred rpm if my recollection is correct it will start to burn the leather and ruining what ever project your using the leather on. that is why I had to tell him I would be running the brush on a drill press at a lower rpm. I have no reason to challenge the guys thoughts on that, and is a good rule of thumb to go with when polishing to bring the luster of the leather to its best when presenting the finished product. So when using a Dremel the RPM's can go to high and burn the finish of the leather ruining a lot of hard work put in to a project.
  20. well you might be able to get one and I can get the other!
  21. let me throw my 1/2 cent in here, I went looking for a shoe polishing brush like they use on the big shoe machines you see in shoe repair shops, I found Pilgram shoe machine Co, the old guy that owns it is a little difficult, but I was able to buy the brush I was after by telling him I would run it on my drill press at low RPMs. He originally made a big box like polisher that had a flex arm like the dremel but much bigger and he still had some of the brushes for it, that is what I use for black dyed leather I haven't gotten around to buying one for different colors you might want to look into one of those when you want to polish something out. As to the IWB it came out well and that is a difficult holster to sew up on a machine at least I think it is. Your build came out nice, but the finish is what I would find a way to redo, you might want to try and put another coat on it and see if it takes out what looks like streaks but get a bigger horse hair brush to polish it out with. Overall nice job!
  22. forgot all about this posting, why don't yous guys shoot me a pm with what ya want and the low man gets my money and let me know how ya want to be paid! and thanks kindly!!
  23. I am not sure why the posting above is posting now but oh well. But what I was going to say is Jake you look real familiar to me, are you on one of those fellas on one of those Alaska shows? or were you the guy sticking his head in the door and saying HERE'S JONNY? Nice work on the trappers hat, so you do part and your wife do the other part? have you tried your hand at any Mukluks? All the times I visited Alaska I always wanted to get a pair of Mukluks but never did!
  24. If you were in Nashville, near there or even checked about shipping, there is a guy on craigs list that sells anvils and RR track cut to different lengths to function as anvils. I contacted him a long time ago about getting one then forgot about, then went looking again, and he is still selling them just some FYI, I had one I brought with me from Cali then sold it now wish I had it DOH.
