  1. Good luck. Bob and Twin provided you some awesome references to use. Also, check with your local Tandy or leather guild to see if they teach a basic floral carving class? I know that our guild teaching a monthly class for beginners that is sponsored by our Austin Tandy. Nice website by the way.
  2. Greetings and welcome to all those from the great state of Texas, especially you knew members.
  3. Nope....sorry, don't come this way for leather supplies. We have to go to Tandy's or just go out and kill a cow for leather. Sorry, that was not so P.C.
  4. I will only buy hides from "madcow" infested animals, period!

  7. several months ago, a member requested ideas for a product that they could use to make a "shell" or "carcass" for a laptop case. I took a look at Kevin's new product at Springfield, Kydex. Now, I know that this stuff is not really new, but it is the first time I saw that it has been offerred for public sale. I know, I know, I could be wrong, but this is just my side. Anyways, to that member and others, Kydex is a good product and by the looks of the demo video on SLC site, it can be formed quite easily to the needs of a "laptop case." I am sure that Kevin has thought about a dozen of other applications for this stuff. I am just posting the idea. Good luck and good evening.

  14. I agree that is cool. It is all about fun.
  15. I did a lot of my own motorcycle bag repairs prior to getting into making them, but I used to go to Homes depot and purchase the thin plastic "fake" or drop ceiling tiles (about 2.5 x 3.5") and just cut them into the width of the bag and length from one side to the other. It worked very well. I guess you can adhere it in between the leather pieces. I do have to admit as stated already that two pieces of 9/10oz is going to be really stiff. I hate to see your fingers if you decide to hand stitch them. wow. Good luck.

  18. Yea, me too, I would have loved to have been there. Probably next to the eagle the next one that I wanted to accomplish. I guess now you can teach Big Papa and I along with Danny down here. I appreciate the photographs.
  19. I looked in my "Saddles" book by Russell Beatie in the fenders chapter and could not find anything that resembled that type of single point pin. Sorry.....It looks like a nice saddle though.
  20. Best of luck on your new venture.
