  1. I used the Saddle Tan antique. I have also been experimenting with mixing the antique and or All In Ones with distilled water. They are water based and it can give you some variations in color tone.
  2. Excellent work! That is very clean and generally spot on the money!!!
  3. Wild Rose case but the problem was I used super shene to block the flowers and the used and EcoFlo Antique. Instead of the flowers remaining the natural leather color they went yellow. Still it was not all that bad. Also I have been trying out Waterproof India Ink to do my background and it is going pretty well. Just brush it in like regular spirit black dye.
  4. Looking good Tommy! I like the belt buckles! Looks like you have some good business going on. Congratulations!
  5. It is not lined and so I try and choose leather which is smooth and clean. One of these days I may yet have a machine to sew but for now it is either saddle stitched or laced. I do wet mold the pocket on the inside for the cards. I have a pile of plastic credit cards and it works quite well.
  6. Thanks much! They are easy to make and can be profitable too! Always trying to come up with something new and sometimes something to make from my scraps.
  7. Testing out a new batch of leather. Like trying something small before going into something big! Treated with pure Neatsfoot Oil and sealed with Sation Shene!
  8. :notworthy:Gotcha! But they are going to be Humongous! I like using made up words too! You work is GQ quality! Nice stuff!
  9. Primo craftsmanship and great color/design. :You_Rock_Emoticon:Forgive me but don't you mean fractal design as oppsed to fractual? Regardless...I love the piece.
  10. Hi Johann, Natürlich! Sie wollen immer es schnell und billig! Das heißt aber nicht weg von der guten Arbeit zu nehmen. (Naturally! They always want it quick and cheap! But that does not take away from your good work.)

    Guitar carving

I love the old VW carving! The wheels are PERFECT!!!
  12. Very good first go round! All things get better and better with time and practice. Tis a wee bonny fish!!!
  13. Very nice and clean. Like the designs simplicity! Just a suggestion but perhaps it could use a soft suede lining to protect the lenses on the glasses.
  14. I totally love this shield!!!!! The whole piece is superb!! Brilliant work! Thanx so much for sharing!!!
  15. Looking very good! I like what you did with the corners...angular into floral. Just a thought on the border. If you used a smooth beveler it might give the border a smoother look. But your spacing on the border is really good. I have been playing around on scrap to find just the right depth and I think you really nailerd it. Great work!!!
  16. Finished lining it and then tried something new using purple braided waxed chord. Would have laced it but I ran out of my florentine lace and needed to get this off.
  17. I use deer suede for my linings. Wanted something very soft. I was about to post the finished version of this one but am having some scanner problems that I have to look at. Tried something different instead of actual sewing our lacing . Glad you like the ones I have put up. Have some more to finish.
  18. Very nicely done! Nice construction!
  19. Thanx Ed! I like the way it turned out. This was a third go round. First one too thick but I may salvage it and the second one fell foul of the skiving down to minimize the overall thickness...HA! Well skiving too deep. And the third one was just right. Sort of like Goldylocks! LOL!
  20. Alright! Atomic Rat Fink! Nice one!
  21. Danish Modern For The New Millenium! :clapping:Very clean and elegant work. Very nice job!
  22. My ex wife's family must still be operating there at the lake! Hope they're not still using that 1932 Ford radiator as a way to cool to condensate! The lead content was always questionable. LOL! She is just a practice piece for now. I think my hands are getting a bit of the old rheumatism of late. So I need to keep them going by the occasional detailed piece. Funny thing is that I had hoped to stave off the old rheumatiz by always continuing to use my hands. Explaining why he still painted when his hands were twisted with arthritis... The pain passes, but the beauty remains. (Pierre-Auguste Renoir) I have been looking for that quote and I found it again. :soapbox:
  23. Welcome also Paul! There are four people in in leather that I hold most high. Al and Ann Stohlman, Al Shelton and most definetly you! You are the sort of craftsman that gives all of us something to shoot for. You set the bar high and your first book was one of my first guides for figure carving and coloring. It is such a pleasure to have you here with us.
  24. Alright now! What in the sam hech did you think it was going to be? Think you have been sipping shine too long on the edge of Lake Conway! HA!
