  1. That looks great, so far, Johan. Can you share a little more with us about the theory of creating the design? Kate
  2. I hear that about the new glasses, Rick. The last pair I got let me work without using a magni-visor. That was pretty liberating. I'm not a huge scull fan, but I really appreciate the look you achieved on this project. That is good work on the stitching, and I love the texture of the leather you put around the border. Look forward to seeing this when it's done. Kate
  3. Beautiful. 美しい Kate
  4. The bicyclist and the horse (and his rider) are my favorites so far. Just amazing! Here's one I came across recently after someone I am acquainted with in the Sidney, Australia area described an encounter with a lyre bird on one of his morning runs... Be sure to watch the whole thing, it gets more interesting towards the end. Kate
  5. I like the distressed effect you got from that. Kate
  6. Nice, Andy! What are you using for the antique? Kate
  7. So maybe you should just surprise her with one. Then just the opposite will happen. Very nice bag, Fred! Kate
  8. Okay, good, at least you have a way to measure it. I'll see if I can figure out why it won't print. I can't print it, either, go figure! Kate
  9. Okay, this might work a little better... here's another one with a quarter-inch grid. (See the one I posted below.) Kate
  10. It prints out in actual size, but I will try to add a grid to show the exact dimensions. Kate
  11. LOLOLOLOL!!! I didn't even have to look at who started this topic, I knew as soon as I saw the title that could only mean the FREAK is back among us! Good to see you back, in all your Freakin' Freakiness! Great to hear the outstanding prognosis for Minnie! Been there done that - I know she (and you) are probably feeling like you've got a whole new life ahead of you. Congratulations! Kate
  12. Here's a basic adjustable guitar strap that adjusts from 49" to 57". It's pretty similar to the Tandy design, except I put more of a taper on the front end. (See the one I posted below.) Kate
  13. It may be possible (not that I am someone who would know), but this is just someone being clever with Photoshop. Notice that the two log piles on either side of the beast are identical mirror images of each other. Kate
  14. I partly agree with you about the connotation of the the word "craft", but it does not always connotate "amateur". When I see the word crafts(wo)man, I think of someone who does a highly specialized and skilled kind of work, with an element of artistry. But when referring to a "crafter", or someone who is "crafty", that's when I get the connotation of a hobbyist. I personally like the word "artisan". People who carve architectural ornaments are called artisans. They aren't artists, exactly, but what they do requires very high skill and artistic ability. Isn't it amazing we can communicate at all? I can't imagine being a marketing professional having to sort all this out! Kate
  15. If it's something oily or waxy that got on the leather and preventing absorption, maybe going over it with some deglazer will clean it off. Kate
  16. I'm there, too. Just joined recently. Feel free to holler at me.... http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=106...amp;ref=profile Kate
  17. Hey, I just saw that on Etsy last night. Very nice! Kate
  18. Try clicking on this: www.montyreedycustomleather.com Kate
  19. Nice work, Ray! That's a very nice effect you got from the dye job on the bracers. Kate
  20. Nice, Johan! Those are definitely off the beaten path. I love to see unique stuff like this. Kate
  21. What about Ralph Lauren or Kenneth Cole? Their names are on their products, but they probably don't even see every product that leaves the factory, let alone have a hand in making them. Nobody questions that - sheesh! Kate
  22. That's really sharp, Darryl. I definitely can see the TomSwede influence in your piece. I'm sure he will be flattered! Kate
  23. Ray, I've got a few that have several designs on them, and have been cutting the individual designs into separate pieces and using them for years. Why shouldn't they work more than once? Kate
  24. Billy, some tombstone places may do that, but the majority don't. I once called around to a couple of places near where I live and asked if they had any scrap they didn't want that I could have. They said, sure we have scrap, sell it to you for $50/sq.ft. So much for a cheap place to find a slab. Kate
  25. I'll try to put together a tutorial to provide some construction details for this pattern. Kate
