  1. Here's my finished sheath. I used an old Tandy stamp U 857, but it is very time consuming to do.... Take your time and I would recommend doing it from start to finish with no breaks, keeping your rhythm and spacing the same. Good luck and I am looking forwards to seeing your results. Vikefan
  2. I too got that very same set of 15 tools from G-H for Christmas, and I also bought a couple King stamps ( a Basketweave, and another stamp). Very well made stamps coming from both. Much better than what Tandy is now making and selling. Vikefan
  3. Do you handstitch or use a machine to stitch your projects? Your stuff is great. Vikefan
  4. Here's my latest completed project. Handstitched. This is a Filet Knife Sheath I made for my son, using an old Tandy mule's foot stamp 857. I am still looking for a Fish Scale stamp, so this will do for now. Please feel free to offer critique or advise so I may get better at this craft. Thanks, Vikefan
  5. Thanks for that info... I loved your fish you did...That is ART...Very beautiful!!! Vikefan
  6. Never could find scales on you blog pages and couldn't get you on facebook. What brand swivel knifes do you prefer as I am thinking of replacing my Tandy one's. Vikefan
  7. Thanks for the info. Exactly what I was looking for.
  8. Can any of you help me find this type of key holders? Vikefan
  9. I am looking for Buffalo Skin suppliers, to make a Money belt out of. I like the Brown color with good charecter. Does anyone know of a supplier for this type of stuff. I am thinking of using 4/5 ounce leather for the money belt. Thanks Vikefan
  10. How does one make homemade walnut stain used for leatherwork? Vikefan
  11. I like this belt very much! Great job. How much do you sell these for? Was the belt handstitched or machine stitched? Awesome. Vikefan
  12. Wholly smokes! How did you get that all attached and operational? And what RPM is your sander/burnisher? My dad got me a motor and this is what I've been using...does great on the sanding side of things, but I've not been too happy with the burnishing side of things. Here's a pic of my set-up. Straight from John Biachi's Video. Vikefan
  13. Although I haven't been that active in the tooling area of leatherwork compaired to other aspects, I totally agree with you. A lot of the Tandy tools I've purchased in the past few years, some I am keeping because I use them, others I am going to give to the BSA or GSA (Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts of America), simply because they are basic tools and I don't use them anymore or don't like them like I did when I bought them. I too have been upgrading when able like I did this past winter. Vikefan
  14. Hey Marlon, Have you checked out or looked at the Leather Wranglers swivel knives? From what I've read they are very good; here's their link: http://www.leatherwr...m/products.html Vikefan
  15. I am looking for the best advise I can get on doing a fish scale Filet Knife sheath. Can anyone give me any advise on this subject? Do you have a certain stamp you use? If so; what brand? Etc. Thanks, Vikefan
  16. I found your information very imformative, but I would like to see pictures along with what you're describing if you have any? Thanks, Vikefan

  22. Interesting outlook you have...Makes some sense to me...Would you be a LW friend?

  23. Boy!!! You sure do some nice work... WOW!

  24. I apologize for not being able to copy the directions for you, but I actually got it out of a book I purchased at my local TANDY store here in Anchorage, AK. The name of the book is: Lacing and Stitching for Leathercraft. The Applique stitch I used are on pages 19 and 20 of that book. I think I only paid like 6-8 dollars for it. Check it out. You might even be able to google it and see how it's done there - I haven't tried that.. Good Luck!
  25. Find yourself a nice stone. Using a 3/4 oz piece of softer leather cut stone inlay whole about 1/8 of inch smaller than actual stone. Make those cuts straight up and down, once that is done (you're happy with it) turn leather over and on the backside use a no. 4/5 beveler to cut about a 45 degree angle thinning the leather to make it easier to mold around your stone. Then wet your leather crown piece down and form it around your stone using an antler tip or boning tool until you're happy with the look and purchase of leather crown to stone (let dry). Cut another piece of thin leather to match your crown setting to be used as a backing for leather crown (holding the stone inside). Using contact cement glue pieces together (I also put glue on the backside of the stone), primarily I did not want to take a chance and loose a $33 stone. I don't think the glue on the stone is needed if you have cut you crown small enough to securely hold stone in place - that would be up to you. Once the glue dried, I used an applique stitch to attach stone setting to my flap holder on this project. Hope this helps some and isn't too confusing. Please contact me if you have more questions, I will try to explain better. I had done 4/5 practice pieces on the leather crown before I finally got it right. Good Luck!
