  1. That is awesome,. Finally figured out a way. Here is the one my daughter started for her moms Christmas present. Now I am working on something for Valentine's Day for the wife with their help. Funny how only time I can get their help is when it is for their momma, lol
  2. I love it. Seems to me to be more flexible than tiger thread. I have 5 or 6 rolls of the 1mm
  3. Pm sent
  4. Thanks for the reply, i saw those once before. I was hoping to find some with a solid ring. If I don't find any I may give those a try
  5. Following, if you decide to breaker it up I am in for some...
  6. Funny you show that picture, I would like to know where to find the hooks like that. I have found them at only 1 source and they had very poor reviews.
  7. I have herd that neetsfoot oil helps with this too
  8. I don't want to highjack your thread but I was inspired but your kids story. My daughter wanted to make her mom a Christmas gift. It was her design. I did about half of the cutting and the carving. She did 3/4 of the stitching. I had to finish it up. I was really proud of her, stuck with it longer than I thought she would. Especially since most of the stitching had to be done with it formed. The yellow is mill tanned leather from a shop that makes chaos, and the holes started closing up. Edit-crap I can't post pictures here
  9. Thanks for the response, interesting article...
  10. Any of you guys and gals bought any baseball leather before. I have a couple projects that I would like to do but I haven't seen any for sale anywhere
  11. Something else I have noticed is most of my staining/dirt whatever is on the first 4 inchs or so after the needles. That is where there is a needle and a thread in the hole at the same time. Also I have started making sure my hands are really clean when using white thread. Hope that helps.
  12. Maybe I am showing how much of an amateur I am but what are y'all talking about "cast"?
  13. What did you put on there before the resolene?
  14. My part arrived today, thanks tparrish
  15. Lol, I am a tight wad and would have paid a lot more than $25
  16. I have been using for a month or so now, a very similar product to tiger thread. It is called serabraid. It is a German thread I believe. I have been ordering it from southwest sewing machines out of Houston. I think there is one other member on here that has ordered a couple rolls but I don't remember who. I ordered 2 spools at a time, 500m and they are like $50 for both. The size 1000 is comparable to tigers 1.0 mm. And they have always been very present to Deal with. I am not affiliated with them, just giving a plug for a company that has been nice to deal with. And if more people buy from them, they will keep more in stock.
  17. I wanted to give props to a business. I found a very close alternative to tiger thread and a place that has started carrying it. It is called Serabraid made by Amann group. I have placed a couple orders now from southwest sewing machines out of Houston (713-977-6567 ask for Elizabeth) they have started keeping a few rolls on hand. I just placed an order for a color they did not have on hand but I guess the wholesaler in the states did, on Thursday or Friday and already have it on Monday. And maybe the best part is 2 500M rolls shipped come to $54. The size 1000 t90 is nearly identicle to 1.0mm tiger thread. And Southwest Sewing Machines has been an absolute pleasure to deal with if you sounds like something you are looking for give em a call. I have been so happy with the company I told them I would try to send a couple people her way. P.S. for some reason the top looks funny cause I copied a post that I put on another board.
  18. I have experienced this a couple times. I have since let the dye and glue have a longer dry time before stitching and have had better luck. Hope that helps.
  19. I bought these off of amazon. They come in a set of 4, less than $20. I know they are cheap, but just starting out I didn't want to spend a bunch. They have turned out to be well worth the little I spent on em. They will need to be cleaned before use. They are pretty sharp. The one thing I didn't want was for the prong to be tapered all the way up. These have a point then do not tape anymore after that. I like em enough that I went back and bought another size --edit-- the pic did not paste. They are Aiskaer brand. Come in a plastic case.
  20. I found some metal spatulas in the model car dept at hobby lobby or somewhere for small to medium areas. Larger areas flux brush. Spatula cleans pretty easy with paint thinner or mineral sprits on a paper towel. I have not tried to clean one of them brushes yet. I work with wood wood also and have started using an old deck of playing cards for a lot of things to include spreading wood glue, should also work with contact cement and then you can toss it, I often cut the cards in half. Edit - the thing I don't like about those brushes in the bottle, they always feel like it is fixing to fall off. I now buy cement in a pint size paint type can so don't have a brush anyway.
