What Is Normal For Using A Sewing Machine?
Techsew Ron replied to lranger's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hi lranger, The small zip tie holding the cord around the foot shaft is supposed to be there - this is to keep the parts related to the presser foot lift lubricated. I assumed you got the machine back up and running when you originally contacted Mike back in November, as he notified me back then that the issue with your 2700 was 100% that it became off-timed and that you were sent timing instructions. I'm glad it is set properly and sewing flawlessly now. Please call us directly if you have any more issues. Ron We've never shipped a machine before thoroughly testing and sampling. Ron -

How thick is the leather you're sewing? you should probably go down in needle size and thread size. -
So Many Machines.. Help Me Narrow It Down
Techsew Ron replied to tossik's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
For sewing 4oz leather with thin thread AND 8/9oz leather with heavier thread, you need a light/medium cylinder walking foot machine. This kind of machine would be a bit better at regulating tensions for thin leather and can use thinner thread than the heavy duty machines. These sell for $1600 to $2000 depending on features and additional options so you should be able to find one within your budget. -
The 180 is a really nice machine for heavy duty webbing, parachute harnesses, technical materials and more. People tend to go for a cylinder machine for leather projects because of the versatility, but for those who need a dedicated long arm heavy duty flatbed machine the 180 is a popular choice. Ron

cylinder arm with flatbed attachment is the right call, you get the best of both worlds! Ron

What Is Normal For Using A Sewing Machine?
Techsew Ron replied to lranger's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hi Keith, Spoke with Mike this morning, he mentioned that you were having issues only with 1 kind of leather but everything else seems to sew fine. We'd like to test the leather you're having difficulty with - Mike asked you to send a sample yesterday. We'll keep you updated after we take a look. Also he told me you were using size #16 needles which is not recommended on the 2700. We time the machine to work within #18 and #23. As always you can give us a call to discuss further. Ron -
I'd trade an increase in internet fees for 300 days of sunshine a year Anyways, most other dealers can ship to Australia, shipping fees aren't too bad considering the distance. We send machines out there pretty regularly. Cheers! Ron

I Need Some Expert Advice On A Sewing Machine.
Techsew Ron replied to tboyce's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
What kind of products do you plan on sewing? A light/medium flatbed or cylinder walking foot machine will handle up to about 3/8" thick and is better at sewing thin leather than the heavy duty machines you'll find.Ron -
Yes of course, table unit with SmartServo motor are included. 830 is single needle, 830-2 is double needle with top and bottom feed. Ron
-
The 810 and 810-2 are really nice machines, we sell a lot of these to shoe and boot makers. Take a look at the 830 as well, it has a top and bottom feed for sewing thicker materials. I can recall one person who had issues with his 810-2 recently, I think he jammed it and tried to repair it by himself without contacting our tech support. We're having him ship it back and repairing it for him free of charge. Ron

The Techsew 5100-SE or 4100 come with our chrome plated specialty presser foot set and will not mark leather. Either machine will be good for leather soles. Ron

Help Needed: Picking Cylinder Arm Walking Foot
Techsew Ron replied to Blanket's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Really depends on who you purchase the machine from. Some companies will simply drop ship them requiring you to set them up, other companies will set them up for you. Yes we have the 441 type clone. Thanks! Ron- 20 replies
